Mercedes Makes Michael Schumacher Official Ambassador

Formula One legend, Michael Schumacher has been unveiled as Mercedes’ new global brand ambassador.

Having retired from Formula 1 for the second time at the end of the 2012 season, the seven-time World Champion will remain within the family of the team with which he made his comeback.

However, his role will stretch beyond F1 with a large part of his focus being on future technologies linked to road safety, “in particular the further development of the Mercedes-Benz safety and comfort systems ‘Intelligent Drive’.”

“The future interests me much more than the present and past,” Schumacher said.

“During my Formula 1 time I always believed that you must not allow yourself to rest on your laurels, but that you must continuously try to improve. In so doing I was very often able to rely on the help of all the technologies available to me in the car and use them to my advantage.

“That is why I am a declared supporter of driving assistance systems both in the racing car and in the road-going car.”

Squash Star Low Wee Wern Gets AirAsia as Sponsor

AirAsia has signed a one-year sponsorship contract with rising young squash star, Low Wee Wern. 

The 22-year-old Penangite is ranked sixth in the world and second in the country.

Since having picked up the game at the age of 8, she has won numerous championships, including three Asian Junior Championship titles and the prestigious British Junior Open.

Scunthorpe United Extends Shirt Sponsorship Deal with Rainham Steel

English League One side, Scunthorpe United, have expanded their partnership with Rainham Steel to sponsor the club’s home and away kits for the next two seasons.

Running up until the end of the 2014-15 season, it will mark an eight-year partnership with the Essex company, who have a distribution depot in Scunthorpe. 

It will mark the longest sponsorship deal in the club’s history and one of the longest-running in the Football League.

Caixa Econômica Announces Major New Investment in Brazilian Paralympic Committee

The Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) have announced that Caixa Econômica Federal have become a major new supporter for the next four years.

Loterias Caixa will invest 120 million Brazilian real (BRL) (EUR 46.15 million) in 13 Paralympic sports and individually in approximately 50 athletes. This amount represents an average investment of BRL 30 million a year until the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

The new contract represents an increase of more than BRL 20 million a year. Until last year, cialis the Brazilian Paralympic Committee and Loterias Caixa had a BRL 22 million agreement for the two-year period from 2011-2012, generic supporting six sports and 22 athletes and guides.

Finally, in 2016, Loterias Caixa will invest BRL 34 million in Paralympic sports.
