Mazda Named Official Car of Sports Car Club of America

Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) have announced a multi-year partnership that names Mazda the Official Car of SCCA through 2015.

Mazda Director of Motorsports John Doonan and SCCA Vice President, physician Marketing and Communications Eric Prill made the announcement on Tuesday morning during the Mazda Motorsports pre-season media day at the company’s headquarters in Irvine.

Mazda will be utilized as the official pace car at key SCCA events, capsule including the SCCA National Championship Runoffs, medicine through the 2015 season. The annual SCCA Hall of Fame Hall of Fame Banquet will now be “presented by Mazda.”

“In the minds of many, Mazda and the SCCA were already partners,” Doonan said. “At the SCCA Runoffs, the Mazda contingent has been the largest of any car company. We love that our small organization is more popular on the race track than the combined efforts of many of our much larger competitors. We look forward to working with the SCCA to grow the sport for the next generation.”

“Mazda has been a long-time supporter of the SCCA and our competitors, so formalizing our relationship was a natural next step,” Dahnert said. “On any given weekend, there are more Mazdas being raced than any other marque. We’re looking forward to expanding our relationship with Mazda and the new opportunities that come with it.”

Bouvier Insurance Extends PGA of America Deal

The PGA of America’s PGA Preferred Golf Course Insurance Program has renewed its agreement with Bouvier Insurance and underwriting carrier Philadelphia Insurance Companies.

This partnership allows golf courses that employ PGA Professionals to utilize the risk management expertise of the companies’ proprietary Peril Assessment Scoring System (PASS), in order to insure their facility and help prevent adverse claims from occurring.

The program is designed to serve the insurance needs of golf courses, practice facilities, golf shops, golf retail facilities and teaching academies. As the endorsed property and casualty insurance provider of the PGA Preferred Golf Course Insurance Program, the partnership and program is administered by Bouvier—in close collaboration with The PGA of America—to provide PGA Professionals with personalized, money-saving risk solutions. Philadelphia Insurance Companies serves as the lead carrier for this program.

“Bouvier Insurance and their underwriting partner Philadelphia Insurance Companies provide a critical aspect of sound business practices and principles for PGA members nationwide,” said Kevin Carter, chief business officer of The PGA of America. “The PGA of America is thrilled to have renewed a partnership that delivers to our 27,000 PGA Professionals state-of-the-art insurance products for critical business needs through the PGA Preferred Golf Course Insurance Program.”

“We are pleased to renew our program with The PGA of America, which started as a new offering available to golf facilities that employ PGA Professionals across the country,” said Rob Bouvier, president of Bouvier Insurance. “What sets the PGA Preferred Golf Course Insurance Program apart is the upfront focus on risk management and loss control through PASS, which is designed to assist PGA Professionals in identifying exposures, so they can proactively address them prior to having a loss. Additionally, this is truly an ‘open program’ where any agent can access the program directly with Philadelphia Insurance Companies. This is an important aspect, as the program honors relationships that may already exist in the marketplace.”

Manchester United Reportedly to Sign Aeroflot Sponsorship

According to reports, Manchester United are close to sealing a sponsorship deal with Russian air carrier, Aeroflot which will be officially announced this summer.

Aeroflot, one of the oldest airlines in the world, will replace Turkish Airlines as the official airline of the Premier League giants.

The deal might be slightly surprising due to Aeroflot’s poor safety record but the Aeroflot perceive the deal as the stepping stone towards overhauling the image of the company both in Russia and in the world, which is especially important as Russia will host 2018 World Cup.

The reports also suggest the main component of the deal will be for United to travel with Aeroflot when they fly to and from Moscow

Steven Falk, Director of Star Sports Marketing, told iSportconnect: “If signed, Aeroflot will be the club’s third airline partner of recent years following on from Air Asia and Turkish Airlines.

“It is possible that Aeroflot will provide access to other potential sponsors in Russia, but the track record from previous incumbents suggests this to be unlikely with the less-than-prestigious Mr Potato being the only sponsor to come out of Malaysia during Air Asia’s tenure, and little yet seen from Turkey.”

The former Manchester United marketing director added: “There is little doubt of the effectiveness of MU’s sponsorship sales operation. However, the continual rotation of category partners suggests either that sponsors are unwilling to renew their relationship with the club beyond the initial contracted period or the club has no desire to keep existing relationships believing that a more lucrative deal is always available elsewhere.

“It will be interesting to see if this is sustainable over the long term and the impact on the club’s brand integrity of such a promiscuous approach to partnerships.”

Washington & Tama County Pork Producers to Sponsor NASCAR K&N Pro Series Race

The Washington and Tama County Pork Producers announced that the two county organizations will jointly sponsor the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East versus West challenge race at Iowa Speedway on Friday, bronchi August 2.

Titled ‘Pork Be Inspired 150’, the 150-lap stock car race on Iowa Speedway’s 7/8-mile tri-oval is slated to start at 8:00 pm, following opening ceremonies and driver introductions.

“We feel that Iowa Speedway is the ideal place to promote Pork to our consumers, and we’re very excited to be able to sponsor the NASCAR K&N Pro Series ‘Pork Be Inspired 150’ again this year,” said Heather Hora, Promotion Director for the Washington County Pork Producers. “We are very thankful for the support of Tyson Fresh Meats, The Iowa Pork Producers Association, Cargill, and Cookies Sauces and Seasonings as well. Without them, this event would not be possible.”

The ‘Pork Be Inspired 150’ will be the tenth running of the popular K&N Pro Series at the Newton track, a touring series run in separate East and West coast divisions, and where such current NASCAR superstars as Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano have entertained Iowa race fans. Iowa Speedway’s two K&N Pro Series races are the only joint East-West events on NASCAR’s 2013 schedule.

“The Pork Producer partners in Washington and Tama counties have been great supporters of Iowa Speedway for many years, and we are thrilled that they have chosen to remain a very important event sponsor this year,” said track President, Stan Clement. “And we are particularly pleased that the Pork Producers are renewing their support of our August NASCAR K&N Pro Series event. The ‘Pork Be Inspired 150’ is where you’ll see tomorrow’s stars today!”

The 2013 Washington and Tama County Pork Producers’ campaign with Iowa Speedway will actually begin with the annual Cookout at the Capitol on Tuesday, April 23, where Pork sandwiches, Cookie’s BBQ Sauce and Coca-Cola products will be available for legislators and their staff members.

“We came up with the idea for a ‘Cookout at the Capitol’ back in 2006, and the Pork Producers immediately stepped up and wanted to be a part of it,” said Iowa Speedway Sales Manager, Karen Baldon. “Whenever we have asked them to get involved with our promotions, they have been there for us, and I can’t say enough about their commitment to Iowa Speedway and to Iowans everywhere.”

Hora was equally enthusiastic in her assessment of the joint promotional partnership with Iowa Speedway.

“We will continue the ‘Pork Patrol’ that we started last year at the track, and we’ll be using the Twitter name @porkpitstop to communicate with tailgaters, playing a bit of trivia, and looking for the best pork entree of the race weekends,” Hora said. “There is no better place than Iowa Speedway to spend your summer weekends, and there is nothing better than a ‘Speedway Chop’ to eat while enjoying the races!”
