Johnson Lexus to Title Sponsor Midtown Race Series’ Half Marathon

Johnson Lexus has become the title sponsor of the Johnson Lexus 5k, 10k,Half Marathon, part of the Midtown Race Series. 

The Johnson Lexus 5k, 10k, Half Marathon will be held on September 21st, 2013.  The Midtown Race Series produces premier running events in Midtown Raleigh, NC.

As the official automotive sponsor for the Midtown Race Series 2013 races, Johnson Lexus has provided the chance for participants to win a new Lexus IS C worth up to $45,000.  One participant in the Lookout Capital 5k, 10k, 13.1 on June 1st and one other participant in the Johnson Lexus 5k, 10k, 13.1 on September 21st will be eligible to win the new Lexus.

Mercedes-Benz & UPS Join the Masters as Sponsors

US Major golf tournament, cialis The Masters has announced that Mercedes-Benz and UPS will sponsor the tournament beginning with the 2014 event.

Mercedes-Benz, an International Partner of the Masters since 2008, will join AT&T and IBM as a Global Sponsor, which formerly included ExxonMobil. UPS will join Rolex as an International Partner, the position previously occupied by Mercedes-Benz.  The total number of sponsors and partners remains unchanged.

Allianz Acquires Naming Rights to Palmeiras’ New Stadium

German financial services company, Allianz have secured the naming rights to Palmeiras’ new stadium for US$151 million for a period of 20 years.

Palmeiras’ new stadium is the second in Brazil whose naming rights have been sold recently, as the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador has been named Arena Itaipava Fonte Nova after the Brazilian beer brand.

The new name will be chosen by Palmeiras fans via a facebook vote, the three options are: Allianz 360º, Allianz Parque and Allianz Center.

The voting process will end on May 20, Palmeiras were not allowed to make any suggestions.

Allianz already have the naming rights of stadiums in Australia, England, France and Germany and have recently signed a partnership with the International Paralympic Committee.

The stadium is expected to be inaugurated in the first quarter of 2014, and will be the second new stadium in São Paulo, as Corinthians’ stadium will be ready by the end of the year and will host some 2014 World Cup games.

Palmeiras plan to use the new stadium to host shows and other non-football events, which currently usually take place at São Paulo’s Morumbi stadium.

Longines to Title Sponsor Kentucky Oaks

Swiss watchmaker Longines, has expanded its partnership as official timekeeper of Churchill Downs racetrack by also agreeing a five-year title sponsorship agreement with the $1 million Kentucky Oaks.

Longines also will host events surrounding the Oaks on Friday, including the Longines Kentucky Oaks Fashion Contest and the Winner’s Party, and the Churchill Distaff Turf Mile (a race for female horses) on Derby Day. In 2012, 112,552 people attended the races on Friday, which is an unofficial holiday in Louisville, with schools and many businesses closed.

“Our passion at Longines is equestrian sport, so we are delighted to return for a third year as the official watch and timekeeper of the Kentucky Derby and to expand our partnership to include the Longines Kentucky Oaks,” Longines president Walter von Kanel said in the news release. “This partnership embodies the Longines brand image and philosophy stated in its slogan, ‘Elegance is an attitude.”

Longines will award a diamond-studded watch to the winner of the Oaks fashion contest on “Pink Out!” day, when survivors of breast cancer are honored and attendees are encouraged to wear all pink to the track.

NBA’s 3X Event Heads to Singapore for First Time

The National Basketball Association’s (NBA) global expansion has taken them to Singapore for the first time for their NBA 3X event.

The event, which combines a free NBA fan festival with a 3-on-3 tournament, will take place at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza from June 21 – 23.

Sanctioned by Basketball Association of Singapore, NBA 3X Singapore 2013 will provide an entertaining experience for fans of all ages to celebrate basketball and NBA culture. Free fan activities include a slam dunk contest, basketball clinics, 3-point shootouts, skills challenges, autograph sessions, and more.

To keep fans entertained, there will be performances by an NBA dance team, an NBA mascot, live bands and DJs, as well as NBA merchandise giveaways.

An NBA Talent will also be on hand to run clinics and interact with fans.

The competitive 3-on-3 tournament features competition groups each for boys under-18, under-16, and under-13 and for girls under-18 and under-16. There will also be an open category for both men and women.

Registration for NBA 3X Singapore 2013 begins May 3.

European Tour Golfer Bernd Wiesberger to Endorse druh Ion Bracelets

Golf accessories brand, druh has signed up European Tour golfer Bernd Wiesberger of Austria as a brand ambassador for its range of druh ion bracelets.

The signing coincides with Wiesberger’s appearance this week in the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club where he will be seeking to acquire more silverware for his trophy cabinet.

The 27-year-old won his first major pro title in Korea at last year’s Ballantine’s Championship, an event co-sanctioned by The European and Asian Tours, whilst wearing a druh ion bracelet.

Wiesberger followed his debut win on The European Tour with a victory on home soil just three months later in the Lyoness Open which helped him to secure 22nd place in The Race to Dubai at the end of the season.

“I am so impressed with the druh ion bracelet, it is incredibly comfortable to wear and looks great,” commented Wiesberger as he prepared himself for the Indonesian Masters.

State Farm Gets Naming Rights to University of Illinois’ Basketball Arena

University of Illinois’ Assembly Hall, which hosts Fighting Illini men’s and women’s basketball teams is set to be renamed following a naming rights deal with State Farm Insurance Co.

In a 30-year, $60 million agreement, the home of the university’s basketball teams will be known immediately as State Farm Center. The change comes as the arena undergoes a renovation that is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2016.

Athletic director Mike Thomas says the university is proud of the new relationship with State Farm. He added the insurance company, headquartered in Bloomington, is “one of the most respected corporate brands in the world.”

“State Farm has been an outstanding partner for the University of Illinois for more than two decades,” Thomas said. “The Assembly Hall is one of the most recognizable structures in the nation and, at 50 years of age, has served the UI campus, community and central Illinois very well.”

The Assembly Hall renovation project’s price tag is currently set at $160 million. Students at Illinois’ Urbana-Champaign campus have agreed pay a $50 annual fee to help pay for the renovations.

The university is upgrading the arena by adding luxury boxes, air conditioning and other features. The bulk of the work is expected to be paid for through private fundraising and the naming rights.

“We are proud to be a part of the renovation of this classic Illinois venue, and further expand our longstanding relationship with the University of Illinois …,” said State Farm executive vice president Randall Harbert.

State Farm Center is the second in the Big Ten with a corporate donor. In 2011, Pinnacle Bank purchased the naming rights to the University of Nebraska’s arena for $11.2 million over 25 years.
