Cold Stone to Sponsor Nelson Piquet Jr. at Dover International Speedway

Turner Scott Motorsports announced today that global brand Cold Stone Creamery will sponsor the No. 30 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Nelson Piquet Jr. in this weekend’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) 5-hour ENERGY 200 race at Dover International Speedway.

BBL Names SportsDirect as Official Retailer

The British Basketball League (BBL) have announced SportsDirect as their official retailer.

SportsDirect will begin retailing Official Spalding BBL Apparel from November this year with all club vests available for purchase through the SportsDirect website with plans to extend this to selected stores in the New Year. 

BBL’s Commercial Director David Leyden Dunbar commented: “The appointment of an Official Retailer was always going to be a natural next step on from the unification of the League’s Apparel provision under the Spalding brand. Working with Spalding we’ve been able to create a far more cohesive look and style across the whole league and forging a partnership with SportsDirect.com will allow us to reach an entirely new audience with our products. Hublot Named Official Timekeeper of PSG

Luxury Swiss watchmaker Hublot has agreed to sponsor Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain for the next three-years. 

The deal will see Hublot become the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of Paris Saint-Germain. The Swiss brand has a strategic presence at the club’s home ground, the Parc des Princes. 

Hublot has presence on the LED hoardings around the ground as well as a number of clocks in key areas of the stadium.

Level 3 Communications Sponsors Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Level 3 Communications, Inc. today announced that it has signed a multi-year agreement with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

As part of the deal the communications services company will serve as the team’s global business-to-business internet network service provider at both Raymond James Stadium and the club’s headquarters, One Buccaneer Place.

Amway Ends Detroit Red Wings Sponsorship

Direct sales giant Amway has ended its sponsorship of Detroit Red Wings. 

The Wings signed a two-year deal in September 2011 that made Amway the National Hockey League’s most-visible corporate sponsor. The deal expired this month, ed and Amway chose not to renew or extend it, search the team said.

Amway will continue to advertise at the arena, generic but at a much reduced level.

“While Amway has chosen to focus their relationship on other aspects of the business and no longer are the team’s presenting sponsor, we are working out details to adjust the partnership elements for the 2013-14 season,” Wings Director of Communication John Hahn said in a statement.

Financial terms were never disclosed, but the Amway deal was believed to be worth under $10 million for both years.

In a written statement released Tuesday, Amway said “evolving business needs and shifting priorities” have led to the decision to end the sponsorship when the contract terms were completed. “We appreciate the support we received from the Wings, and are currently exploring new opportunities to partner with their organization,” the statement said.

Last year, Amway’s logo was on the ice of Joe Louis Arena, on the scoreboards, on game tickets and on a variety of advertising and marketing ventures. Not this year. AT&T, Kroger Co. and Flagstar Bank have picked up some of the sponsorship opportunities with the Wings, Hahn said.

Amway is active in sports sponsorships. It holds the naming rights of the Amway Center in Orlando which is home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic.

Arsenal Reveal Gatorade as Official Sports Drink & Nutrition Partner

Arsenal FC have announced American brand Gatorade as its Official Sports Drink and Sports Nutrition partner in a new three-year global partnership.

The deal will see the Gunners’ first-team, Under-21 and Under-18 teams use Gatorade before, during and after all training sessions and matches.

As part of the deal, Arsenal and Gatorade’s sports science teams will collaborate on developing specific nutrition plans for players to optimise performance when training and competing.

The new partnership and opportunity to engage with Arsenal’s worldwide fan base will be central to furthering Gatorade’s global ambitions while increasing their involvement in elite football.
