Hero to Title Sponsor 2014 World Challenge Golf

The 2014 World Challenge Golf, hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation, has secured Hero MotoCorp Ltd, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer as its title sponsor.

The tournament will be held between December 3-7 at the renowned Isleworth Golf & Country Club here and will have 17 of the PGA TOUR’s best players competing for the $3.5 million top prize. 

The 72-hole, stroke play event is co-sponsored by the PGA TOUR and benefits the Tavistock Foundation and the college-access programs of the Tiger Woods Foundation.

ESPN to take 3D coverage to Australia

American network ESPN is to broadcast its first 3D offering outside of the US with coverage of the X Games to be screened in Australia this weekend.

The sports broadcaster has teamed up with Australian pay-TV operators FOXTEL and AUSTAR to provide eight hours of 3D coverage of the extreme sports event in Los Angeles, which is taking place from 29 July to 1 August.

The 3D broadcast will be available to all FOXTEL iQ2 and AUSTAR Mystar HD subscribers with 3D-ready television sets.

ESPN Asia Pacific vice president, Michael Morrison, said: “Extending ESPN 3D to Australia reinforces our commitment to provide fans worldwide the best quality sports programming.

“3D television has taken off in the United States and around the world and this provides ESPN 3D an outstanding opportunity to work with FOXTEL and AUSTAR in Australia to bring this exciting trial programming to Australian sports fans.”

FOXTEL’s director of sport, Pete Campbell, added: “FOXTEL was the first to bring Australians 3D television and we’re thrilled to partner with ESPN for another ground-breaking sport experience.”

 

 

Mercedes-Benz Becomes Official Vehicle Supplier of Bath Rugby

Bath Rugby has announced a partnership German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz for the 2014/15 season.

Mercedes-Benz of Bath has been named Official Vehicle Supplier for the new campaign as part of an exclusive tie-up that will benefit both the Club and its supporters. 

The Peasedown St John Retailer will provide several vehicles for Bath Rugby officials to use and will also supply cars to players through a VIP programme established between the RFU and the motor manufacturer. There will also be special offers available to supporters of the West Country side.

Tarquin McDonald, Managing Director of Bath Rugby commented: “As a company, we want to link up with other strong brands that have both a local and international presence, and Mercedes-Benz is a prime example of this. US version of Portugal’s Sport TV to be launched

The launch of Portuguese-language sports channel Sport TV in the United States has been authorised by Portuguese regulatory authorities ERC.

The American version of the channel will be called Sport TV Américas, drug and in the first phase of its launch will be addressed to the Portuguese American audiences based in the US and Canada, check based in the New York and Toronto metropolitan areas respectively.

The channel will be available in standard definition and in HD, and on satellite and cable. It will broadcast for around 86 hours per week in its first year.

Distribution of the American version will be handled by Seabra Portuguese Televisión (SPT).

Brett Favre Named Copper Fit Brand Ambassador

Retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre has joined Copper Fit as a brand ambassador.

Favre made his debut as a Copper Fit brand ambassador in the commercial, capsule “Life After Football” that began airing nationwide in September.

Korean broadcaster SBS fined for not sharing coverage of World Cup matches

South Korea’s television network SBS TV has been fined US$1.64 million by the state regulator for not sharing coverage of this summer’s FIFA World Cup with other broadcasters, it has been reported.

SBS had exclusive rights to broadcast matches from South Africa, but following complaints from broadcasters KBS and MBC, the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) told SBS to negotiate a share of some games.

And the KCC has now said that SBS has been fined because it did not “sincerely comply with the request” to negotiate a share of games.

Penn Mutual to Title Sponsor Collegiate Rugby Championship

Sony PlayStation 4 Gets Naming Rights to National Premier Leagues

The Football Federation Australia have revealed Sony PlayStation 4 as the naming rights sponsor for the NPL finals series, the national second tier competition, with Sony PlayStation as the naming rights sponsor.

The new sponsorship agreement with PlayStation 4 will see the semi-professional member federation-based competitions in Australian football branded as the ‘PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues’ up until at least the end of the National Premier Leagues 2017 Finals Series and reflects the Sony group’s support of football at national and international levels.

FFA CEO David Gallop commented on the deal:“Sony Computer Entertainment Australia is a blue chip company and this PlayStation 4 partnership emphasizes the continued growth of football and reaffirms the attraction of the National Premier Leagues and its position in the Australian football landscape,” Gallop said.

Hertz Renews Penrith Panthers Partnership

Car rental company Hertz has extended their contract with National Rugby League club Penrith Panthers for a further three years.

As part of the agreement, generic Hertz will continue to be a sleeve sponsor for the team.

Hertz first joined forces with the Panthers 12 years ago and in 2012 increased their involvement with the club to feature as the team’s official sleeve sponsor.
