Mediaset Spain has acquired the rights to broadcast several matches of the Copa del Rey, Spain’s premier soccer competition.

The package includes live coverage of six games for the next round of this year’s knockout tournament, two games of the second round, two games of the quarterfinals and two semifinals. The meetings will take place in early 2012.

The media group led by Paolo Vasile has not yet indicated whether shocks are issued by Four football or Telecinco. Viewers have also the possibility to follow the tournament through Mitel, the Mediaset TV platform Spain, which broadcast live and simultaneously six collision free, and accessed from any PC, tablet or smartphone.

Mediaset Spain reinforces its commitment to major sporting events between the content of their channels to the next year, among which are the European Football Championship in Poland and Ukraine and World motorcycling.

The 2011 edition of the Copa del Rey, played April 20 in which were crowned champions Real Madrid against Barcelona, ​​became the most-watched broadcast of the classic clash between two teams of all time.

Leading commercial broadcaster RTL have acquired the media rights to the 2012–15 Europa League in the Netherlands, UEFA announced.

RTL will continue to show, via its channel RTL7, the best UEFA Europa League live match per kick-off slot, as well as a highlights programme each matchnight. This award of rights will ensure the same extensive free-to-air coverage of the competition in the Netherlands.

All rights have been granted on a platform-neutral basis, with the rights also being exploited on the internet through RTL’s website and on mobile.

All 15 matches of the 2011 South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship, medstore South Asia’s premier football competition will be broadcast live on YouTube from December 2nd when the tournament kicks-off.

In a deal with World Sport Group, SAFF’s exclusive marketing and media partner, YouTube will not only provide the platform for live streaming of the SAFF Championship matches, but clips of all the top action from every match will also be posted on each game day.

The live matches will be accessible globally through http://www.youtube.com/SAFFChampionship except in India, where they will be available on a delayed basis the following day.

In addition, a full archive of match highlights from the 2009 edition of the event is already available on the site.

The SAFF Championship is a biennial competition that is contested by SAFF’s eight member nations Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.   Defending champions India will host the seventh edition of the event to be held from December 2nd to 11th.

The America East Conference and ESPN have announced a new five-year broadcast deal that will significantly increase the league’s number of national appearances on ESPN networks through the 2015-16 season.

The 2011-12 package will include a minimum of 47 national appearances on ESPN platforms, therapy the most in league history. The deal also includes flexibility that could increase that total in future years.

For the fifth straight year, ESPNU will televise a men’s regular-season conference game when Stony Brook hosts Boston U. on Jan. 27 in a rematch of last year’s America East Championship game. Additionally 11 regular-season basketball games, four postseason contests and the men’s lacrosse championship game will be carried exclusively on ESPN3.

“With more appearances on the ESPN family of networks than ever before, America East fans from coast to coast will have more access to our games than any previous season,” said Huchthausen. “The availability of these games on several platforms, including ESPN3, WatchESPN apps and ESPN on Xbox LIVE will give fans several viewing options as well as help us reach and create a new generation of America East fans.”

America East’s exclusive ESPN3 package, which will consist of seven men’s games and four women’s games in the regular season, kicks off Jan. 14 with Stony Brook visiting Boston U. in a matchup of the top two preseason favorites on the men’s side. The first America East women’s game ever broadcast nationally will pair UMBC, the preseason favorite, and Boston U., which reached the league’s title game last season, on Jan. 25. Other marquee matchups include Vermont and Boston U. squaring off in a matchup of the last two men’s champions on Feb. 1. A rematch of last season’s women’s title game takes place Feb. 25 when Boston U. visits Hartford.

ESPN3 will carry the semifinals of the America East Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Newman’s Own on March 4. The tournament, which will be held at University of Hartford’s Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavilion for the third straight year, takes place March 1-4 with the men’s title game being played on Saturday, March 10 at 11 a.m. The women’s championship game date and time are to be determined based on television clearance availability.

UEFA have announced today that they have awarded 2012–15 UEFA Champions League media rights to Cyta in Cyprus.

The International Media Rights for the Italian Serie A during the 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons have gone to MP & Silva, the leading sports media company has announced.

The rights, awarded after a tender process by the Italian Serie A League, cover all territories worldwide excluding Italy.

Italian Serie A is the leading football league in Europe in trophies (30 total victories in UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Supercup).

Italian football clubs also lead the ranking of European club victories (9) in the FIFA Club World Cup and Intercontinental Cup.

The Ballon d’Or has been awarded 18 times to players of Serie A Clubs, more than any other league in the world.

European soccer’s governing body, UEFA have announced the award of the 2012–15 UEFA Champions League media rights in the Netherlands to NOS and Sport1.

Public broadcaster NOS will show on its channel Nederland 3 the best live game each matchnight, including the final, as well as a highlights programme. Sport1 has been awarded the rights to all UEFA Champions League matches and will broadcast across the Sport1 family of channels at least six games per matchnight, plus highlights programmes on both matchnights.

UEFA said: “The combination of NOS and Sport1 coverage will provide football fans with wide access to the competition with a large choice of matches. UEFA is happy to renew its partnership with NOS and Sport1 and looks forward to continuing this successful relationship.”

Sky Deutschland, sickness German pay-television broadcaster, erectile  is looking to steal IPTV and mobile rights for the German Bundesliga from competitor Deutsche Telekom according Sky CEO Brian Sullivan.

Sullivan, Sky’s chief executive, told German magazine Focus: “We are initially interested in all rights. We want to be able to show more programming – also mobile on smartphones and tablet-PCs.”

The tender for the Bundesliga rights from 2013 will commence in January 2012.

Deutsche Telekom has exclusive IPTV and mobile rights covering all matches in the current cycle, from 2009-10 to 2012-13. Sky has exclusive pay-television rights covering all matches. Deutsche Telekom’s rights are considered to have limited Sky’s subscriber growth in the current rights cycle.

Sullivan also expressed interest in Sky renewing its rights for the Formula One motor-racing series with Sky’s current deal expiring this season.

Sullivan initially played down the broadcaster’s interest in renewing the rights two weeks ago by saying that the sport has a “strong presence on free TV” in Germany. Commercial broadcaster RTL has live rights for all races in a deal from 2012 to 2015.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) have won back the media rights to the World Athletics Series events from 2014 to 2017 replacing Channel 4’s short stint as rights holders of the World Championships.

This came about after the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) signed a deal with the European Broadcasting Union, of which the BBC is a member, guaranteeing exclusive media rights to all World Series Athletics events from 2014 to 2017.

It means the championships will return to BBC screens when they are staged in Beijing in 2015 before the channel becomes the host broadcaster for the event in the Olympic Stadium in Stratford two years later.

London was awarded the championships by the IAAF less than a fortnight ago when it saw off a rival bid from the Qatari capital, Doha.

Barbara Slater, the BBC’s director of BBC Sport, said: “We’re delighted that the World Championships will be returning to the BBC.

The BBC screened the championships from their inception in 1983 to 2009 before losing the rights to Channel 4 this summer.

That was because the EBU was outbid for the period 2010-2103 by Swedish media rights agency IEC in Sports, which then negotiated individual rights deals with broadcasters in each country.

IEC had hoped to extend its deal but this time it was outbid by the EBU, who are believed have offered in excess of £15 million a year to the IAAF for pan-European rights.

IEC continues to hold the rights for the 2013 World Championships in Moscow and has yet to finalise a UK deal.

Channel 4’s coverage of the championships in Daegu, South Korea, attracted an avalanche of criticism from viewers and it was forced to drop its main presenter, Ortis Deley, halfway through the event for a series of mistakes.

The new deal means the sport will return to mainly public service broadcasters across the continent.

Lamine Diack, the IAAF president, said: “The EBU has been our partner for every edition of the IAAF World Championships from their creation in 1983 right through until 2009 and we are delighted to be partners again.

“This agreement not only secures the financial future of the athletics movement until the end of 2017 but is also strategic for the IAAF in guaranteeing maximum coverage of our premium events in key territories.”

This just comes a couple of day after BBC Retained Six Nations rights. The last few broadcast deals for the BBC has dispelled rumours that the public broadcaster will have to reduce deals due to economic constraints.
