Shah Rukh Khan’s Dempo Deal At Risk
Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s proposed deal to buy stake in I-League Dempo Sports Club is reportedly at risk because he is finding it difficult to attend football matches as required by the club owners.
Dempo Sports Club Owner Srinivas Dempo said the deal may not go ahead, because Shah Rukh has no time to attend the matches, which is crucial if a deal is to be reached.
The club had approached Shah Rukh, who is the co-owner of Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders, to offer him a stake in the club, which won last year’s I-League championship.
Dempo said: “The proposal is still in the pipeline. Officially, it has not been called off.”{jcomments on}

SuperSport Inks NFL Deal Just in Time for New Season

Controversial Deal with QTA Part of PSG’s Growing Plans Says PSG President
Paris St Germain’s latest partnership with the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) which has gained widespread criticism is part of the French club’s growing plans in the Middle East according to president Nasser al-Khelaifi.
The deal, under which the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) will pour up to 200 million euros ($262 million) a year into the club until 2016, will be made official in the next few weeks, Khelaifi told the sports daily L’Equipe.
The deal is worth twice the club’s revenues for the 2010-11 season and has been questioned with some pundits suggesting it was out of proportion.
PSG will have to comply with the new fair play regulations which require clubs not to spend more than they earn. They are expected to submit the contract to the European governing body UEFA in the coming months.
“The contract with QTA is justified because PSG’s influence in the whole region, not only in Qatar, has been important,” Al Khelaifi said in his first public comments on the issue.
“We have been building an international brand. This deal is a strong symbol. Qatar have benefited a lot from their investments in PSG.”
PSG have spent more than 250 million euros in transfers since the Qatari fund QSI bought the club in June 2011, far more that they can afford to if they only spend what they earn.
The advertising contract will help them continue their expansion and will be retroactive, meaning it will finance their off-season high-profile signings, such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva or new recruit Lucas Moura.
“We will keep on investing,” Khelaifi said.
“It’s necessary to become one of the great European clubs. Other clubs have invested for 20 years. We have been there for a year and a half and now we must stop pouring money? It would be unfair.”

BBC Agrees Deal to Broadcast PSA World Squash Championship
The Professional Squash Association (PSA) has announced that the BBC has become the latest broadcaster to add Squash coverage to its programming after confirming an agreement to cover next month’s AJ Bell PSA World Squash Championship in Manchester.
The significant deal is a further endorsement of the sport’s appeal just days before squash discovers if it will be added to the 2020 Olympic Games programme.
The championship, the premier annual event on the PSA World Tour, will take place at Manchester Central, the city’s former Manchester Central railway station, from 26 October to 3 November – and will feature the world’s leading players from countries including Britain, Egypt, Australia, France, Germany, Colombia, South Africa, Spain, Botswana, Malaysia, Netherlands, Switzerland, India, Finland, Hong Kong, USA and more.
The new agreement will lead to coverage from the quarter-final stage across the BBC Red Button, IPTV and the BBC Sport website. There will also be a highlights programme following the event on BBC Two & BBC Two HD.
“In our bid to become an Olympic sport, PSA has been investing heavily in TV coverage of squash through SquashTV and to now have the BBC on board is obviously a major boost,” said PSA CEO Alex Gough.
The news means that the BBC joins a broad range of international broadcasters which have covered the elite PSA World Series events since the launch of SquashTV – including Sky Sports, Eurosport, Astro, PCCW, Starhub, SkyNet, Ten Sports, Orbit Showtime Network and One World Sport.
