August 24, 2015

National Football League (NFL) franchise the Atlanta Falcons have announced a 27-year naming rights deal with German car brand Mercedes-Benz for their new stadium.

The $1.4 billion venue will be known as the Mercedes-Benz stadium when it opens in 2017.

The Falcons will be sharing the stadium with new Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion franchise Atlanta United FC, who will also begin play in 2017.

Mercedes-Benz also currently owns the naming rights to the stadium of NFL side the New Orleans Saints, who are also the Falcons’ division rival in the NFC South.

Speaking at today’s announcement, Falcons owner Arthur Blank said: “We could not be prouder to put ‘Mercedes-Benz’ on our stadium.”

SunTrust Deal

The Atlanta Falcons have also signed a new deal with American bank SunTrust to become a founding partner of the new stadium.

SunTrust will be the title sponsor of one of the premiere field level clubs at the stadium.
