February 14, 2017

Banned cyclist Lance Armstrong has lost his bid to prevent a $100m lawsuit from the US government. The suit alleges that Armstrong defrauded the US government while racing for the publically-funded US Postal Service team.

Armstrong’s former team-mate Floyd Landis before being joined by the government in 2013. The case will go to trial, after a federal judge refused to block the lawsuit.

The American cyclist Armstrong won seven consecutive Tour de France cycling championships from 1999 to 2005, but has subsequently admitted to using drugs in every campaign.
