ARD to Broadcast Live from the BMW Berlin-Marathon

SportA, help the sports-rights agency of ARD and ZDF has secured the national media rights for the BMW Berlin-Marathon.

German public broadcaster ARD and the regional broadcaster Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) will report live from the event which starts on September 29. ARD will take exclusive rights of the event from 2014.

The four-year deal was brokered by Infront Sports & Media, the marketing partner of event organiser SC Events.

Axel Balkausky, Sports Coordinator at ARD, said: “Endurance competitions in Germany inspire and enthuse more people every year – whether as a participant or spectator. We are taking this popularity into account by including this globally recognised marathon event in Berlin as a top national event in our sports programming.

“We are convinced that this race in the unique setting of the capital will fascinate many of our viewers this year.”
