America’s Cup Reveal Klean Kanteen as Water Supplier

June 27, 2013

Klean Kanteen, a California-based company that provides sustainable alternatives to single-use plastic, has joined the 2013 America’s Cup as the Official Water Hydration Solution and Sustainability Supplier.

The America’s Cup has committed to delivering a single-use plastic bottle-free event and Klean Kanteen will provide spectators with convenient free water hydration stations for reusable bottles.

“We’ve set ourselves a very ambitious target to rid single-use plastic bottles from our event,” said Jill Savery, Head of Sustainability for the America’s Cup. “Klean Kanteen will support our Healthy Ocean Project campaign that encourages America’s Cup spectators to give up their plastic bottles by providing a convenient, sustainable alternative. In addition, water hydration stations will pour local tap water—some of the cleanest in the country—thereby eliminating the unnecessary transport of drinking water and associated emissions.”

Klean Kanteen’s water hydration stations will be found throughout the America’s Cup Park, at Pier 27/29, and America’s Cup Village at Marina Green, and will be open starting opening day, July 4.

“Both the America’s Cup and the city of San Francisco have taken a very progressive stance on single-use plastic and we’re proud to help provide spectators with sustainable solutions,” says Scott McGuire, Director of Sales and Marketing at Klean Kanteen. “We’re also perfectly aligned with the America’s Cup in their efforts to educate the public about the threats of plastic pollution in the oceans. As a truly global event, the America’s cup is setting a new benchmark for its commitment to sustainability.”
