Ajax Announce €18.2m Profit

Dutch champions Ajax have announced a profit of €18.2m ($24.58m) for the 2012-13 financial year, ailment thanks in part to sale of three key players.

Ajax sold Jan Verthongen to Tottenham Hotspur for approximately €11.89m ($16.10m), Vurnon Anita to Newcastle for a reported €7.97m ($10.79m) and Gregory van der Wiel to Paris St Germain for €6m ($8.12m).

The amount shows a significant increase from the previous years’ profit, which was €8.5m ($11.51m).

The club also said they expected a larger figure in the next financial year due in part to their participation in the Champions League and further player sales.
