Ajax and ABN AMRO Reunite For Partnership

November 20, 2014

Dutch football club Ajax has announced a partnerhsip with Dutch bank ABN AMRO.

The two parties will collaborate once again after the bank sponsored the club for many years including their Champions League winning team in 1995.

The bank becomes the club’s ‘Partner of the future’ and will officially sponsor the team’s Toekomst sports complex.

ABN AMRO name will feature vertically on the club’s jerseys.

Edwin van der Sar, Marketing Director at Ajax, said: “Two weeks ago, we presented the new main sponsor. Today, we welcome ABN AMRO as the partner of the Toekomst. We are proud that they are here.”

“Every morning when I come into my office, the first thing I see is the jersey I wore when we won the Champions League in 1995, with ABN AMRO on it, of course. I’m proud and happy that they are returning to the club.”

Ernst Boekhorst, sponsorship manager at ABN AMRO, said: “We’re looking forward to it. It’s been almost seven years since the name ABN AMRO has been on the jerseys.

“The choice for the future was carefully weighed. ABN AMRO will put forward a more social sponsorship, and we’re looking out for the development of talent.

“Ajax is the first tangible example of our new sponsorship direction. It’s amazing to work on this. I’m very much looking forward to working with the Ajax Foundation.

“If more people focus more on doing social work, then that reflects on us too. I’m especially pleased that we’ll be more visible through this connection.”
