A-League Sets Attendance Record

The A-league enjoyed record opening-round attendance to a season.

A total of 93,500 fans attended the five opening matches during the weekend, smashing last season’s record of 79,850.

The derby between Melbourne Heart and Melbourne victory attracted 42,032 fans.

Recent signings Alessandro Del Piero, Shinji Ono and Emile Heskey have helped to raise the profile of Australian soccer.{jcomments on}
