Stewart Jordan Having purely by accident watched 10 minutes of Arsenal vs Bayern Munich it is so easy to encapsulate all that is wrong with the so called 'Beautiful game' 1. It's not beautiful. 2. Different leagues with different styles of play and standards confuse referees 3. Referees are easily swayed by reputations and so called 'marquee' players 4. Referees can get away with unabashed biased decisions with impunity ( for example Arsenal player hacked down with actual contact...play on. Arjen Robben receives a passing waft from an Arsenal player, free kick and yellow card. + an equity card and a years residency at the Royal Shakespeare Company.) 5. Genuine heart, graft and ball busting effort (oxlade chamberlain) gets no reward
BTW I am neither an Arsenal fan, nor a great Football fan, but this money machine has a fundamentally flawed business plan. The Emperor's new clothes are being exposed, all those in doubt take time to watch a replay of Sunday's RBS 6 Nations game between England and Wales and understand what true commitment, athleticism and above all respect for the rules and principles of the game plus true appreciation of the supporters (BTW they pay your wages) means.
