March 6, 2012

RTL, clinic VRT and Telenet get media rights to the 2012–15 UEFA Europa League in Belgium replacing current content partners AB3 and EXQI Sport.

Free-to-air broadcaster RTL has won the French-language rights to the best match in each kick-off slot every matchweek. RTL will show both live matches as well as a highlights programme each matchweek on Club RTL.

In the Flemish language, national broadcaster VRT will screen live the best game of the matchweek on its channel Canvas, while pay operator Telenet will show a comprehensive selection of games every matchnight in both kick-off slots on its three Sporting Telenet-branded channels.

Both VRT and Telenet will broadcast highlights programmes each matchweek in the Flemish language.

Commenting on the award of UEFA Europa League media rights, UEFA said: “UEFA is delighted to continue its successful relationship with VRT in respect of the UEFA Europa League in Belgium and also to welcome RTL and Telenet into the UEFA Europa League family of broadcasters. Each of the three broadcasters has significant experience of working on the UEFA club competitions and their extensive broadcast knowledge and strong programming commitments will ensure significant exposure of the competition across Belgium.”
