Overview
The Premier League’s digital media channels perform a vital role in helping grow the global reach of our competition, increasing engagement among football fans while supporting our member Clubs, broadcast licensees and commercial partners.
This exciting new role in our Digital Media team will lead on content planning across the Premier League’s digital media output on owned and operated channels.
The ideal candidate will have a content and/or marketing background, an affinity for sports, and experience of agency management.
This role will work closely with core members of the Content Delivery team and Premier League Productions’ Digital & Creative team along with external agencies to support on the timely planning and delivery of content throughout the year, ensuring that major moments and campaigns are recognised and delivered with excellence, alongside high-quality business as usual output.
This role will also work closely with the Premier League’s Communications, Marketing and Commercial teams on the planning and delivery of key milestones for the wider business to ensure coordinated narrative and optimised engagement.
The right candidate will have an excellent awareness of what the Premier League does both on and off the field, exceptional editorial judgment, meticulous attention to detail and a strong background in digital video content production.

The role
This is a new role created to help lead content planning and distribution across the Premier League’s digital media output across owned and operated channels.
This role is fundamental to the delivery of the Premier League’s digital media business and involves, but is not limited to, the following duties:
- Advocating for and explaining the rationale behind content positioning across multiple platforms to a range of stakeholders
- Applying an organisation and a project management style lens to content, campaigns and new platform launches
- Scheduling and hosting creative sessions aimed at establishing our approach and creative executions to campaign moments and spikes across operated and owned channels
- Sharing weekly email updates with Digital Media team, highlighting planned content
- Supporting the wider team in managing and building strong, two-way relationships with our agencies. This includes clearly mapping out roles and responsibilities on a project-by-project basis, overseeing campaign development and management and giving creative input and guidance, to ensure we are driving the best possible content from shoot days
- Ensuring our regional agencies are included and involved in updates, content plans, campaigns and discussions with good lead time, so they can collaborate and adopt for regional channels in a way that best works for their audiences
- Assessing performance, content gaps and opportunities in line with KPIs and objectives to see us achieve results and set the standard in the industry and beyond
- Ensuring a collaborative approach across campaigns and projects that are running in tandem
- Contributing to the content strategy and communicating its value and importance simply and clearly to a variety of stakeholders
- Identifying trends, patterns and actionable insights from different data points and through observation
- Clearly and concisely communicating the role that different channels play (owned and operated) and how to leverage content to drive deeper relationships with fans
- Planning and managing creation and roll out of content and ensuring that it is maximised across a range of channels
- Ideation of creative cross-platform content ideas that align with insights, data and wider strategy
Requirements For The Role
- Considerable professional experience in digital content development and planning, at agency, production company, or related role
- Demonstrable passion for creating content to the appropriate audience, and knowledge of those subjects which inform, educate & entertain the audience
- Specific experience in a planning or coordination role, including agency management, and managing multiple workstreams efficiently with clear deliverables
- Familiarity with traditional and digital marketing channels, content marketing and distribution platforms and consumer analytics
- Understanding and appreciation of communications and brand
- Experience of brand messaging, tone of voice, and content alignment
- Ability and experience of working within an editorial environment to craft and deliver stories to drive business goals
- Educated to degree level with experience of managing and producing multimedia content in a fast-paced environment. Education / qualification in multimedia content creation preferable but not essential
- Strong creative eye, including an appreciation of brand and creative, to deliver a clear editorial vision for the lifecycle of content across multiple platforms
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to schedule and prioritise multiple work streams effectively
- A motivated, self-critical, proactive and ambitious individual with exceptional communication skills
- Collaborative and open-minded team player with the confidence to deal with senior internal and external figures
- Keen sports fan with a solid knowledge of the Premier League’s structure and context in the industry
- An individual with an interest in content that spans beyond football, encompassing different cultural touch points and trends that sit beyond sport
- Excellent and adaptable writing ability
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Armed with strong relationship building skills and keen to bring others along on the journey
- Equipped with exemplary communication, planning and organisational skills
- Ability to demonstrate creative vision and identify innovative solutions

THE POSITION
These Are Your Key Tasks
- The management and maintenance of a global digital newsroom across three geographical zones, able to operate and function 24/7.
- Distribution of social, multimedia and editorial assets across owned, earned and shared channels, utilising Communications platforms and services.
- Leading a “multimedia first” approach of content curation, ensuring economies of scale through strong content briefs and multi-platform publication planning.
- Supporting senior management messaging, content curation, speeches and presentations.
- Working with Corporate Communications, and other members of the Communications division, on strategies for content gathering, aligning with the Head of Content Production on budgetary matters and business priorities.
- Strategic support of Campaigns content delivery.
- Organisation and proactive management of the Inside FIFA areas of FIFA.com, using economies of scale in the relevant languages.
- Supporting both the Director of Communications and Head of Content Production in the timely delivery of video assets for FIFA institutional events, such as meetings of the FIFA Council, FIFA Congress, The BEST FIFA Football Awards etc.

The details…
- The Social Video Editor will perform the dual role of content creation and platform / community management, with a proposed 70:30 split between the two disciplines.
- 70%: creating and publishing TikTok-ready content on official UEFA competition accounts, along with short-form and story content across other vertical video platforms and products.
- 30%: platform management and owning the whole content circle: planning, creating, posting, analysing and reporting.
- Focused mainly on the UEFA Conference League, there will be expectation to also work across other competitions such as the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League and UEFA EURO.
- The role will also require on-site content capture at various UEFA competition matches and draws, as well as at UEFA sponsor events and access days.
- This is a permanent role, based in our London office with hybrid working options available.
Who are you?
- A social native with a flair for video ideation, creation and distribution, you will plan, create and publish bespoke short-form and story content across multiple platforms and formats, primarily TikTok, but also on other vertical video-oriented platforms and products.
- You will marry the two areas of content creation and platform management by displaying a talent for repurposing great football content cleverly and specifically, and having an innate understanding of how to use platform features to achieve optimum results.
- You will feed into an integrated publishing calendar to ensure channels are consistently populated with best in class, innovative content that builds the client’s brand and global reputation at all times.
- You have the capability to fulfil the client’s responsibilities to sponsors and key stakeholders via posting of branded video content.
- You will contribute to the continuous improvement of content performance through social insights & best practices, and act on them accordingly.
We need you to have…
- Experience in creating compelling social video content and social stories, particularly in a vertical format and within a live environment
- Well versed in video production software and digital tools, primarily Adobe Premiere Pro. Other Creative Suite tools (e.g. Photoshop) would be advantageous.
- Background in social media platform and community management, specifically TikTok, with experience in planning and analytics
- Understanding of deliverables across multiple platforms and aspect ratios, and how a consumer will experience the video on those specific platforms
- Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive both individually and within a team environment
- Accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when under pressure
- Able to provide examples of particularly creative / engaging social media posts
- Deep knowledge of (and passion for) football and in particular European football
- Awareness / understanding of all major the social platforms’ analytics tools
