Exclusive: IOC Support to Africa Needs to be More Focused says Ser Miang

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) needs to make an extra effort and be more focused with their support to Africa according to Ser Miang Ng.
The IOC presidential candidate and vice-president of the Singapore National Olympic Committee has visited Africa four times in 2013 and Ng said that whilst he can see an Olympic Games on the continent in the future, capsule the Olympic Movement needs to do more.
Speaking exclusively to iSportconnect, asthma Ng said: “I was told that the IOC needs to put in extra effort to support Africa.
“The Olympics have supported Africa but I suppose the support could be more focused now. The support has enabled Africa to build up to what it is today in terms of sport.
“Moving forward we could have more focus in terms of helping them to fulfil their dreams and ambition.”
Ng is busy campaigning to replace Jacques Rogge as the president of the IOC and faces competition from Thomas Bach, price Sergey Bubka, Richard Carrion, Denis Oswald and Ching-Kuo Wu.
The former sailor also noted the importance of gathering the support of African IOC members and reiterated his belief that the continent will host an Olympic Games.
“I think it is very important because Africa is the second largest continent geographically and also the second most populated,” Ng commented. “I can see the action of the leaders who are very professional.
“You can see the activities in Africa and how they hope to have an Olympic Games there.
“I am quite sure that we will see an Olympic Games in Africa. Not 2024, but perhaps 2028 or 2032.
“I think it is time that we start helping them to build for this.”
