iSportconnect and Powerboat P1 are delighted to announce Omar Khan, Global Head of Sponsorship & Events at Lycamobile, Andrew Hore, CEO at Ospreys Rugby and Andrew Campbell, Head of Leisure, Events, Tourism & Sport at the University of Wales Trinity St. David, as being among the confirmed panellists for the powerboat experience rides and sports tourism business networking event in Cardiff.
The event will be held at Cardiff Bay this Friday (28 August) ahead of the P1 Welsh Grand Prix of the Sea taking place over the bank holiday weekend.
The event is free to attend and will look at how Wales has made such enormous strides in building its position in the global events industry and how to share in this ongoing success story.
Since joining Lycamobile in 2013 as their first ever Global Head of Sponsorship and Events, Omar Khan has used his pre-existing network to design and deliver a highly effective and strategic programme of investment in sports sponsorship and partnership marketing initiatives, restructuring the organisation to deliver the goals agreed by the board.
This portfolio has included establishing the company as the Official Mobile partner of the Test Match Grounds and Surrey County Cricket Club, West Ham United, Powerboat P1, with the British Film Institute, 20thCentury Fox, the Conservatives Party and with the British Asian Trust.
Andrew Hore is a rugby union administrator and is the current CEO at Welsh regional side the Ospreys, leaving a High Performance/Elite Development role with the New Zealand Rugby Union in December 2007.
Previously Hore had been Wales national rugby union team Conditioning Director between 2002 and 2005, having previously held management roles with the Canterbury and Crusaders Rugby organisations in his native New Zealand, initially as the Performance manager, part of this role being responsible for initiating the first rugby academy in New Zealand.

Andrew Campell has over 25 years of experience in higher education, validating, managing and teaching on leisure, events, tourism and sport programmes, both within the UK and overseas.
He has developed many education and training initiatives in collaboration with public and private sector organisations, most recently with the Marriott Corporation. His research and consultancy interests lie within the fields of marketing, sustainability and transport.
Those attending the business forum at St. David’s Hotel in Cardiff Bay, which will be chaired by iSportconnect chairman Michael Cunnah and feature an interactive question time-style panel session, will be able to enjoy a thrilling ride in a P1 race boat in the afternoon before joining the networking session.
The event will be kicked off by a special introduction by P1 chief executive James Durbin. James initially joined P1 as a consultant in February 2010, before becoming a director and CEO in July 2012.
Durbin said: “There is certain to be an interesting and lively discussion as we look at the multi-billion pound sports tourism business and examine how Wales has become a significant player in hosting major events. The interactive panel session will debate strategies, benefits, opportunities, issues and potential pitfalls in what is now one of the fastest growing sectors of the huge travel and tourism industry.”
This is an invitation-only event, so to register your interest please email Sylvia-Line Lamaro at sylvia-line@isportconnect.com and indicate whether you would like to enjoy a P1 experience ride.
