PGA Tour announce new COO

Jay Monahan has been named Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the PGA TOUR, generic effective of April 1.

Monahan has served as Deputy Commissioner since April 2014.

PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem said: “This is another step in the organization’s succession planning as Jay continues to work closely with me pertaining to all business matters, impotent ” 

Prior to being named Deputy Commissioner, illness Monahan served as Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President at the TOUR from 2013-2014. 

Monahan came to the TOUR from Fenway Sports Group (FSG), where he served as executive vice president.

National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan named as Gold Partner of SportAccord Convention 2016

SportAccord Convention is delighted has announced that the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be returning as Gold Partner to this year’s Convention taking place at the SwissTech Convention Center, herbal Lausanne, illness Switzerland from 17-22 April 2016.

WNBA Announces Coca-Cola’s Lisa Borders as New President

National Basketball Association (NBA) commissioner Adam Silver has confirmed the appointment of Lisa Borders as the new chairman of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).

Borders, who will join from her most recent role as Chair of The Coca-Cola Foundation and Vice President, Global Community Affairs at The Coca-Cola Company, will officially assumer her position on 21 March.

Repucom Partner With INDYCAR to Provide Sponsorship Research and Consulting Services

Sports intelligence company Repucom has agreed a deal with INDYCAR to provide media valuation and sponsorship consulting services to Hulman & Company, treatment the parent of INDYCAR and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The partnership will include media analysis of all Verizon IndyCar Series events, all events at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the tracking of the INDYCAR brand worldwide.

Multiple NFL Franchises Apply for Relocation to Los Angeles

National Football League (NFL) franchises the St. Louis Rams, the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders have all submitted applications to be relocated to Los Angeles.

The paperwork was officially filed and received by the NFL on Monday, which was the first day that NFL rules would allow the organizations to petition the league.

A statement released by the NFL said: “The applications will be reviewed this week by league staff and three league committees that will meet in New York on Wednesday and Thursday — the Los Angeles Opportunities, Stadium, and Finance committees.

“The applications will be presented for consideration at next week’s league meeting in Houston on Tuesday and Wednesday. The relocation of a franchise requires the affirmative vote of three-quarters of the NFL clubs (24 of 32).”

Los Angeles, the USA’s second-largest market, has been without an NFL team for the last 21 years, since the Rams and Raiders relocated from the region in 1994.

ATP World Tour Event to Switch From Colombia to Mexico in 2016

The ATP has confirmed that the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Bogota, bronchi Colombia, will be switched to Los Cabos, Mexico after the event was acquired by Grupo Pegaso.

The tournament transfer was approved by the ATP Board of Directors at its meetings in London this week where the ATP World Tour Finals is currently being held.

NBA Partner With GE Healthcare to Protect Health of Players

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has partnered with GE Healthcare in an initiative to benefit the health of players and seek ways to prevent injuries.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said the aim of the partnership is to “reduce injuries, arthritis lengthen careers and improve post-career health for NBA players.”

INDYCAR Confirms Boston Race for 2016

US motor series INDYCAR announced yesterday that it will race in the South Boston Waterfront on Labor Day weekend during the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season.

The Grand Prix of Boston will feature an 11-turn, unhealthy 2.25-mile temporary street course that surrounds the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

The event marks the first time INDYCAR has raced in the Boston area, a key northeast market for the Verizon IndyCar Series.

Host Selection Process Kicks off for Rugby World Cup 2023

The host selection process for Rugby World Cup 2023 has officially launched with interested Unions having until 15 June 2015 to officially express their interest in hosting rugby’s premier global event.

With the Rugby World Cup brand going from strength to strength ahead of a record-breaking England 2015 and ground-breaking Japan 2019 tournaments, patient formal interest is anticipated to be high and geographically wide.

As announced in March, cheap cheap the Rugby World Cup 2023 host union will be selected in May 2017 following a phased process. The successful country will have six years to work with tournament owners Rugby World Cup Limited to deliver the event and maximise the benefits of observing the delivery of Japan 2019.

So far Ireland, South Africa, Italy and France have publicly announced their hosting interest and with the process now officially open, World Rugby invites unions to confirm their interest.

World Rugby Chairman Bernard Lapasset said: “Today represents an exciting and significant milestone in planning and preparation for Rugby World Cup 2023 and a date that officially kicks off starts the bidding journey for interested potential hosts unions.

“We are delighted with the strong level of interest from unions and governments at this early stage, which underscores the enormous hosting appeal of Rugby World Cup in the global sporting market place and we welcome further interest in the coming month.”

To assist with the process, World Rugby has invited interested parties to attend a two-day information-sharing briefing in London on 4-5 June, 2015 and the biggest official observer programme to date during England 2015.
