North Face Expands U.S. Freeskiing’s Partnerships

The North Face, an original partner of U.S. Freeskiing, has expanded its partnership with the association by supporting U.S. Freeskiing’s new Rookie Team.

This partnership builds off the brand’s charter sponsorship of the U.S. Freeskiing Team, which began in 2011 just before halfpipe and slopestyle skiing were announced as new Olympic sports. The North Facewill also add U.S. Freeskiing Pro Team athlete Maddie Bowman to its global team roster. Bowman, a two-time X Games medalist, recently took gold at the Winter X Games and first at the Visa U.S. Freeskiing Grand Prix competitions at both Copper Mountain and Park City to earn the national title.

U.S. Freeskiing’s new Rookie Team provides support and training with expert coaches for teen athletes looking to advance their skills and competition level in both halfpipe and slopestyle skiing with the goal of eventually making the U.S. Freeskiing Pro Team. The support of The North Face has been instrumental to the growth of the new Olympic sport of freeskiing, including U.S. Freeskiing’s elite pro team and its new development-focused U.S. Freeskiing Rookie Team, which both foster talent that will help the USA be Best in the World in Olympic freeskiing leading up to the 2014 Olympic Winter Games and beyond. The 10-member U.S. Freeskiing Rookie Team is coached by Ben Verge (halfpipe) and DJ Montigy (slopestyle).

Roswell Food Group have announced their Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips brand will title sponsor  the spring NASCAR Nationwide Series event at the Bristol Motor Speedway for the next four years.

The event will be known as the Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips 300.

Indian Discuss Thrower Krishna Poonia Secures New Corporate Sponsor

Indian discus thrower Krishna Poonia has signed a two-year sponsorship deal with Hindustan Zinc Limited and described the help from the corporate world as a big relief since it will help her prepare well for the Asian Games and other multi-discipline events in the next two years.

It is first sponsorship agreement with a private sector company for the Commonwealth Games gold medallist.

Poonia signed the agreement with the Vedanta Group’s company in Udaipur, where the headquarters of Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) are located.

HZL CEO Akhilesh Joshi has promised to bear all her expenses, including overseas training.

“It’s a big day for me today and I am grateful to Vedanta’s Hindustan Zinc for coming forward and supporting me. It is a relief for me to know as I need not worry for my expenses for training for the next two years,” Poonia told PTI after signing the agreement.

“A monkey has been off my back. I have been looking for help from corporate sector for some time after winning Commonwealth Games gold and it was not coming. This help will be crucial for me as I would be preparing for Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. The Olympics are also scheduled in 2016 and this deal will help me in my hunt for medals for my country,” she said.

In 2014, Asian Games will be held in Korea while Scotland will hosts the next edition of the CWG.

“An athlete needs financial security and that plays crucial role in the performance. Once the financial help is assured, the concentration in the sport is automatically enhanced and the focus also increased. I am today confident because I need not worry about my expenses while preparing for Asian, Commonwealth and Olympics Games,” she added.

Rolex to Title Sponsor 2013 F1 Australian Grand Prix

Intersport Signs On as Official Sports Retailer of FIBA
