Sanderson Farms to Title Sponsor PGA Tour Event at Annandale Golf Club

Sanderson Farms, stuff one of the nation’s leading food corporations, sick has agreed to title sponsor the PGA TOUR’s 2013 tournament at Annandale Golf Club in nearby Madison, Miss., scheduled for July 18-21.

The former True South Classic has been renamed the Sanderson Farms Championship.

In making today’s announcement, the PGA TOUR, Sanderson Farms and host organization Century Club Charities said discussions regarding a possible longer-term relationship would take place following this year’s tournament.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Sanderson Farms as title sponsor of our tournament in Mississippi, which has been a mainstay on the PGA TOUR for 45 years,” said Andy Pazder, Chief of Operations for the PGA TOUR. “We look forward to working with Sanderson Farms to meet its objectives as title sponsor in July and then begin discussions about the possibility of continuing its involvement beyond this year.”

“Mississippi is known for its hospitality and being a great host for the PGA TOUR,” said Joe Sanderson, Sanderson Farms Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. “Sanderson Farms wants to continue that tradition and be a great host for this exciting event.”

The Sanderson Farms Championship, which debuted on the PGA TOUR in 1968, has proven to have significant economic impact on the region. A study commissioned by the Mississippi Development Authority and conducted by Mississippi State University determined in 2010 that the tournament had a $22 million impact. Additionally, the tournament generated approximately $500,000 last year for local charities.

“This tournament has great economic impact on the state of Mississippi and the metro Jackson area, not to mention the tremendous good it does for charity,” said Sanderson, when asked why the company stepped in as title sponsor. “We felt this was in line with our goals and mission at Sanderson Farms to be good citizens, support our communities and positively impact the tournament’s charities.”

NHRA’s Danny Rowe Agrees Marketing Deal with Agave Underground

MillerCoors to Extend Chicagoland Speedway Sponsorship

Chicagoland Speedway and MillerCoors are set to announce today a new multi-year sponsorship deal that will keep Miller Lite as the official beer of the Joliet track, a title it has held since 2001. 

The renewed alliance, which also applies to the adjacent Route 66 Raceway drag-racing venue, means the beer will continue to don track amenities like the Miller Lite Pit Stop beer garden next to the grandstands, the Miller Lite Turn 1 Party Deck and other signage around the venue. 

“It’s a perfect fit for us,” said Chicagoland Speedway president Scott Paddock. “They’re an industry leader and we love doing business with companies in our backyard.” 

Mr. Paddock says the track is also planning to upgrade its infield fan zone, which will “tie Miller Lite into that footprint.” 

Corporate sponsorship is a big piece of the revenue pie for the track, in addition to ticket sales and television revenue doled out from Nascar through its broadcast rights deals with Fox and ESPN. Revenue from the ESPN-carried races stands to increase in value next year, when the expiration of ESPN’s contract with Nascar could spark a bidding war over the second half of the stock-car racing schedule. 

The track currently has more than a dozen corporate partners, including global brands Coca-Cola, Toyota and Gatorade, as well as local names like O’Reilly’s Auto Parts and Hollywood Casino. 

Las Vegas Nascar Nationwide Race Inks Boyd Gaming Sponsorship Extension

The Las Vegas Nascar Nationwide race has extended it sponsorship agreement with Boyd Gaming until 2017.

The Nevada-based gaming company is one of the longest-running title sponsors in the Nationwide series, backing the Sam’s Town 300 since 1998. Boyd has nine casinos throughout the Las Vegas area, including three around historic Fremont Street.

Bruton Smith, whose Speedway Motorsports owns the Las Vegas track, announced the four-year sponsorship extension on Saturday.

Stena Expands World Match Racing Tour Involvement with Sailing Team Sponsorship

JR Motorsports announced a new partnership with Keen Parts Inc., order a leading supplier of Corvette restoration parts.

As an official partner, Keen Parts will receive branding on the decklid of Regan Smith’s No. 7 Chevrolet for the balance of the season, joining Smith on his bid for a Nationwide Series title run in 2013.

Owned by Tom and Teresa Keen and based out of Cleves, Ohio, Keen Parts specializes in Corvette restoration parts ranging from vintage 1953 models to customized accessories for today’s Corvettes. The company’s current inventory boasts more than 18,000 parts and accessories.
