Caltex to Sponsor Sydney FC’s W-League Shirts

A-League team Sydney FC has agreed a new sponsorship deal with Caltex, Australia’s leading transport fuel supplier, to become the club’s Westfield W-League front of shirt sponsor for season 2013/14.

The Sky Blues have already hit record figures for sponsorship revenue this year and this new deal shows the increased interest in the Sydney FC brand.

“This another fantastic deal and success story for Sydney FC,” said Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata.

“We already have a long and strong relationship with Caltex as the shorts sponsor for our Hyundai A-League team and this new deal will only build upon that.”

Sydney FC kick off the defence of their Westfield W-League Championship at Melbourne Victory on Sunday (kick off 3pm), where the new look shirt will be displayed for the first time, with the match being broadcast live on ABC1.

“We are delighted to be furthering our association with Sydney FC and increasing our involvement with the club,” said Michael Ridley-Smith, Caltex’s National Manager Marketing Services.

“They are already recognised as Australian football’s most prominent brand worldwide and by reinforcing our relationship we hope that both parties will to continue to reap the rewards.”

Sydney FC’s three major sponsors Webjet, Destination NSW and Caltex are already committed to the Hyundai A-League season 2013/14, while Westfield W-League major sponsors JB Metropolitan Distributors are also on board.  St George Bank have become the official Sydney FC Community Partner.  Today’s announcement also follows the recent signings of StarTrack, Nick Scali, Supa IGA / IGA, Beechwood Homes and the Australian Careers Business College as major partners.

Meijer Announced as Title Sponsor of New Michigan LPGA Tournament

The LPGA have announced a new tournament will join the 2014 schedule with Meijer announced as title sponsor for the event.

The new event will take place Grand Rapids, capsule Michigan for the inaugural Meijer LPGA Classic, which will be held August 7-10, 2014 at Blythefield Country Club.

The $1.5 million Meijer LPGA Classic will host a full-field of 144 players playing 72 holes of stroke play over four days of competition. The tournament will be the LPGA Tour’s first stop in Michigan since 2000 when the Oldsmobile Classic in East Lansing, Mich. ended its 9-year run. It will also mark the first annual golf event to take place in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula since 2009 when the PGA Tour last hosted the Buick Open in Grand Blanc.

“The Midwest has a great history when it comes to women’s golf and we are truly excited to partner with a company like Meijer to bring the LPGA Tour back to the state of Michigan,” LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan said. “The area has such passionate golf fans and with Meijer’s commitment to giving back to their community, this tournament could not be a better fit for the LPGA.”

With Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer as title sponsor, the driving mission of the Meijer LPGA Classic is focused on feeding the hungry and improving the quality of life within the region. The tournament will coincide with the retailer’s Simply Give program, which has generated more than $6.5 million – equaling 39 million meals – for food pantries in the communities it serves.

Although this is the first time the LPGA will play in Grand Rapids, the area has a strong history of showcasing premier golf events. The city played host to a Champions Tour event for 19 years, from 1986-2004, and the LPGA hopes to continue the long-standing relationship that professional golf has within the community.

David Hobbs Honda has been named the Official Hometown Honda Dealer of the 2014 ABC Supply Co. Inc. Wisconsin 250 at Milwaukee IndyFest for its third year.

Los Angeles Dodgers Inks Ticketing Deal with Tickets.com

Major League Baseball franchise Los Angeles Dodgers have announced a new long-term ticketing agreement with Tickets.com, Inc for use of the ProVenue ticketing platform at Dodger Stadium, beginning with the 2014 season.

“We’re excited about leveraging the ProVenue platform and continuing to improve the ticketing experience for Dodger fans — especially around digital ticketing,” said Lon Rosen, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for the Dodgers.

Los Angeles will become the 17th MLB Club to utilize Tickets.com’s ProVenue platform, a technology solution built on a hosted, open architecture. In 2014, MyTickets Mobile, a new feature launched in September within the award-winning MLB.com At The Ballpark app for iPhone and Android smartphones, also will debut for the Dodgers, giving fans mobile access to any ticket purchased for Dodger Stadium.

Real Madrid Sign Saudi Telecom Sponsorship Renewal

Spanish soccer giants Real Madrid have signed a sponsorship extension with Saudi Telecom that will last until the end of the 2017-18 La Liga season.

The State-Owned company have been partners of Real Madrid since November 2009. As part of the deal, therapy Saudi Telecom will provide exclusive content to its customers in Bahrain, Kuwait and Turkey, along with its home market.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said: “We have found in Saudi Telecom Company a strategic partner who shares with us the spirit of leadership and the ongoing pursuit of excellence. It is an important alliance for the present and the future. We have been together for four years and are renewing for five – this is sure to be further extended. (Saudi Telecom) is an excellent company that helps us get closer to our fans.”

Pirelli Remain Tyre Suppliers for Ferrari Owners’ Club Racing Series

Pirelli will continue to supply the tyres for Ferrari Owners’ Club racing series in 2014.

As part of the deal all three club championships – the Pirelli Ferrari Open, Pirelli Ferrari Classic and Pirelli Hillclimb Championship – will once again run exclusively on Pirelli tyres.

The Ferrari Owners’ Club organises events throughout the UK as well as at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
There are three series run by the Ferrari Owners Club of Great Britain: the Pirelli Ferrari Open caters for the latest Ferrari, including the 458 Italia, whilst the Pirelli Ferrari Formula Classic is for cars built prior to 1990 and the Pirelli Ferrari Hillclimb Championship which is open to any road-going Ferrari.

Pirelli and Ferrari have a long and illustrious history. The Pirelli P Zero range was first created to equip the legendary Ferrari F40 back in 1987 and earlier this year Pirelli announced it was supplying Ferraris latest creation, the highly-anticipated LaFerrari.

Pirelli UK’s Motorsport Operations Manager, Matthew Corby, explained: “There is a lot of synergy between Ferrari and Pirelli, not least because we are both Italian brands. Both manufacturers also operate in the premium sector and strive to offer motorists the finest possible driving performance. NHL Renews Kimberly-Clark Partnership

The National Hockey League (NHL) have extended their multiyear partnership with Kimberly-Clark in North America.

In Canada, allergist K-C launched its Home Team Advantage retail activation program this season with participation by their portfolio of brands including Cottonelle, bronchi Huggies, doctor Kleenex, Scott and Pull-ups.

Home Team Advantage is a Canadian shopper marketing program designed to leverage the power of the NHL by targeting hockey moms. Through March 2014, shoppers will be rewarded with an NHL team-branded premium with a minimum purchase of Kimberly-Clark products at select local retailers.

“In Canada, hockey is embedded into everyday culture and lifestyle,” said Brian Goldstine, VP and country manager, Canada at Kimberly-Clark. “The National Hockey League has some of the most passionate and loyal fans in the world.  Our partnership with the NHL provides Kimberly-Clark the opportunity to offer the Home Team Advantage program to Canadian hockey moms.”

While moms are the primary consumers of Kimberly-Clark products they are also a vital segment of NHL fans in North America, a demographic that is critical to the connection of the two brands.

Rugby League’s Hull FC Inks Bartercard Deal

UK based business-to-business trade exchange, check Bartercard has announced a spnsorship deal with English Rugby League club Hull FC.

As part of the deal, Bartercard becomes the club’s away shirt sponsor for the 2014 season, in return for credit which can be spent with any of Bartercard’s 35,000 members. Hull joins a growing list of teams, including Huddersfield Giants and York City Knights, all of whom use Bartercard as a sponsor.

Bartercard is a trade exchange, designed to allow British companies to exchange goods and services without money changing hands. The deal allows the Black and Whites to spend the “Barter pounds” it earns from the sponsorship deal with the wide range of suppliers on the network. Last year £40m was traded on Bartercard in the UK.

Simon Barker, Bartercard UK CEO, says: “We are hugely proud to sign Hull FC to the Bartercard network. They are one of the oldest and most storied clubs in rugby league – and in British sport in general – and they are a huge name in the region.”

Tony Sutton, Chief Operating Officer at Hull FC, added: “The Bartercard link-up is a great strategic move for us. Tinsue to Supply the Floor for Table Tennis Event at Rio 2016

The International Table Tennis Federation’s marketing arm, TMS International has announced Tinsue as the official sports-floor supplier for the table tennis event at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

This comes after the recent announcement in February that Tinsue will be the official sports-floor supplier to the table tennis event at the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games.

It will be the second Olympic Games in a row that the world’s best table tennis players will play on Tinsue sports-floor, as they had also supplied the floor at London 2012.

“We are happy to have this opportunity to again cooperate with the ITTF,” said Tinsue CEO Mr Zhang Zhen.

“We first started our relationship in 2009 at the World Team Cup, and it is our great honour to continue helping the ITTF host successful events, such as London 2012,” added Mr Zhang.

The agreement, which is made up of a substantial cash component and value-in-kind equipment, also includes the 2014-2016 World Tour Grand Finals, the 2015 World Team Cup and the Continental events in Latin America, Oceania, Africa and North America until 2016.

Following the agreement, ITTF President Mr. Adham Sharara stated: “The ITTF is extremely pleased that it could renew its agreement with Tinsue as the official sports-floor supplier to the table tennis event at Rio 2016. The 2012 London Games were the debut for Tinsue and the sports-floor received a great reception from all players.”

“I am very pleased that Tinsue is also sponsoring our continental events. This proves that Tinsue is not only interested in selling product, but also very interested in the development of our sport,” concluded Mr. Sharara.

Anders Thunstrom, Managing Director of TMS International, added: “We have been able to find a win-win situation with Tinsue and to extend the partnership until 2016, strengthening the relationship between us for ITTF World Title events.”

London 2012 was the first major table tennis event with a sky blue floor, and the ITTF will again work with Tinsue and the ROCOG to create a memorable floor colour for Rio 2016.

Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes have been named the The Official Automotive Paint of NASCAR in a new multi-year partnership beginning next year.
