Virgin Becomes Official Airline of Basketball Australia

Basketball Australia has announced a deal that makes Virgin Australia the Official Airline of the Australian Opals, order Boomers and Basketball Australia.

As part of the two-year deal, which extends through to 2016, Virgin Australia will provide athletes with travel to and from the 2014 FIBA World Cup and World Championships this year.

Basketball fans will also be able to track the Boomers’ and Opals’ World Cup and Championships journey through exclusive, behind-the-scenes digital content across both tournaments powered by Virgin Australia.

Basketball Australia Chair Scott Derwin said: “We’re extremely pleased to be able to strengthen our relationship with Virgin Australia. The airline has been a great supporter of Australian basketball for some time now.”

The Australian team is set to compete in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup for Men in Spain from 30 August to 15 September.

The 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women will be held in Turkey from 27 September to 5 October.

Sunfoil Extends Title Sponsorship of Dolphins Cricket Team

Sunfoil has renewed its title sponsorship of the Dolphins for a further two years today, healing further strengthening the partnership between the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union (KZNCU) and the Willowton Group.

The Sunfoil sponsorship will run for a further two years from the start of the 2014/15 season, with an option to renew for another year at the end of the initial period.

Nationwide Becomes Official Insurance Sponsor of NFL

Nationwide Insurance announced today that it signed a three-year agreement to become the official insurance sponsor of the National Football League (NFL).

The relationship kicks off this season and will run through the 2016 season.

“We’ve made significant media and partnership moves in the NFL space over the past two years to help strengthen our connection with the more than 185 million NFL fans,” said Matt Jauchius, Nationwide’s chief marketing officer. “Adding a league relationship is a natural evolution for Nationwide and will afford us the ability to maximize assets nationally, provide more impactful content and better engage fans across screens.”

As part of the agreement, Nationwide becomes a founding sponsor of NFL Now, the NFL’s new digital video service providing fans with the NFL news, analysis and highlights they want across their Internet-connected devices. Launching in early August, NFL Now will be personalized for each fan’s interests, allowing them to follow the NFL how they want, where they want, when they want.

Nationwide will also be a presenting sponsor of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, which honors a player’s volunteer and charity work, as well as his excellence on the field.

NFL Rookie Johnny Manziel Signs MusclePharm Endorsement Deal

PNC Retains Title Sponsorship of Florida Champions Tour Event

PNC Financial Services Group has extended its sponsorship of Orlando’s Champions Tour stop.

IMG Golf said on Titter: “IMG Golf announced today that PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. has renewed its contract as title sponsor of the PNC Father/Son Challenge.”

The multi-year extension will keep the final event of the tour’s season in Orlando.

PNC became title sponsor in 2012, bringing back the tournament that was held in central Florida from 1995 to 2008.

This year’s tournament is set for Dec. 11-14 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Grande Lakes. It will air live on Golf Channel and NBC. Its 20-team field includes defending champions Stewart and Connor Cink and 19 other golfers who will be paired with a son or daughter.

PNC has a number of sports sponsorship including naming rights sponsor of Carolina Hurricanes home arena and Chip Ganassi Racing.

McDonald’s Signs Up to Baku 2015 European Games as Official Supporter

Restaurant chain McDonald’s has signed on as an Official Supporter of the Baku 2015 European Games, diagnosis it has been announced.

The partnership will see co-branding within McDonald’s restaurants and marketing campaigns tailored to deliver messages about the inaugural European Games throughout Baku and the whole of Azerbaijan.

In addition, McDonald’s will promote the European Games across Azerbaijan through in-store messaging, Games-related competitions, and a specially designed Baku 2015 European Games variety menu.

Simon Clegg, Chief Operating Officer at Baku 2015, said: “The McDonald’s brand is synonymous with major international sporting events around the world and I am delighted that we have signed them as an Official Supporter of the first ever European Games.
