Manchester City Extends Roots in Africa with Black Aces Deal

Manchester City Football Club has continued its expansion in the African market by securing a deal in South Africa.

The deal, allergist which is the first of its kind for the Club will see the popular South African Football Club, pills Black Aces FC, order become the Club’s ‘Official Regional School of Football Partner’. 

As part of the three year partnership, Manchester City will deliver coaching programs to local children, teaching them the same training techniques and philosophies used by City’s First Team that includes African player of the year, Yaya Toure. 

In addition to local children learning how to play the “City way”, the Black Aces Academy coaches will also benefit from the delivery of a City Coach Education Program, and will have the opportunity to shadow City’s coaches in South Africa.  They will also travel to Manchester, where their academy will play games against the Club’s youth academy sides. 

The football programs will offer children the chance to improve and develop their football and educational skills in a fun and challenging environment. 

Patrick Vieira, Head of City’s Elite Development Squad, who recently announced the South African leg of City’s upcoming pre-season tour at a press conference in Johannesburg, said: “South Africa’s love of football was clear for the world to see during both the World Cup, and most recently the Cup of Nations.  The national pride shown for hosting both tournaments is a testament to how the country and people embrace the sport. 

“It’s a privilege for Manchester City to be part of South Arica’s youth football development by passing on our expertise to the Black Aces coaches, at a time when the country is fast becoming a force in world football.  Through shared learning, both clubs’ can work together in order to provide children with a holistic football  experience that  places equal importance on football and education.”

Kevin E. Carroll Becomes COO & GM of Atlanta Athletic Club

Kevin E. Carroll has been named as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) and General Manager of the Atlanta Athletic Club (AAC), medicine a prominent and historic golf and country club in Johns Creek, Ga.

His appointment begins on May 21, 2013. Carroll replaces outgoing General Manager A. Christopher Borders, who is retiring after 35 years of service at the AAC.

Carroll has been the COO and General Manager at The Loxahatchee Club in Jupiter, Fla., for nine years before this appointment. Previously, Carroll was the COO and General Manager at the Bellerive Country Club (Bellerive) in St. Louis, Mo., where he served for eight years. Carroll is expected to take over duties late in the spring after his move from Florida.

PGA Tour Inks SendtoNews Digital Video Rights Deal

Digital sports video agency SendtoNews have signed today a multi-year rights agreement with the PGA TOUR to distribute digital video to local news sites throughout the U.S. 

Beginning with the 2014 Farmers Insurance Open, illness  SendtoNews will distribute tournament highlights, medical player interviews, sale commentary and other video content through its digital News Partnership Network so that golf fans can access PGA TOUR content via their favorite local news sites. 

“The PGA TOUR is one of the world’s premier sports brands and we look forward to expanding its digital offering to golf fans across America,” said SendtoNews CEO Greg Bobolo.

“As digital consumption of sports content continues to expand, a significant percentage of fans continue to get their information from local news sites,” said Luis Goicouria, Vice President of Operations and Business Development for PGA TOUR Digital. “This new relationship with SendtoNews allows us to expand our brand awareness to these local users, while increasing video consumption for the PGA TOUR.”

New Emblem & Host Cities Unveiled for FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014

Edmonton, medstore Moncton, allergist Montreal and Toronto have been named as the Host Cities for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 and the Official Emblem of the tournament has been unveiled.

“It’s a great pleasure to include Toronto in the official Host Cities for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 together with Edmonton, medic Moncton and Montreal, which will also be part of the coast-to-coast adventure for 2015,” commented Tatjana Haenni, FIFA’s Deputy Director of Competitions for Women’s Football, “Host Cities are one of our biggest sources of support when it comes to promoting the competition.”

“The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 is another great opportunity for our country and the four Host Cities to welcome the world and the world’s game,” said Victor Montagliani, chairman of the National Organising Committee. “This competition serves as a terrific showcase for the future stars of women’s football, with the best often proving that they are ready for the big competition just one year later.”

This marks the kick-off of the seventh edition of the biennial FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, one of two FIFA women’s youth tournaments being played ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015. The inaugural edition of this competition was played in Canada in 2002 (then known as theFIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship). The most recent edition was played in Japan, where CONCACAF members the USA were crowned for a third time (2002, 2008 and 2012).

The match schedule for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 will be announced in the coming months.

In addition to the unveiling of the tournament’s official Host Cities and Official Emblem, Bell Canada was announced as the official telecommunications provider and the first National Supporter of theFIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 and FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015.

Paul Nixon and Niall O’Brien, Cricketers for England & Ireland, to Speak at World Sports Congress

Coe confident of 2012 Olympics reaching sponsorship target

The organising committee for the London 2012 Olympic Games (LOCOG) is close to reaching its domestic sponsorship target of £700 million (US$1.1 billion), according to London 2012 chairman Lord Sebastian Coe.

Speaking at the two-year milestone before the Games, Coe said: “We’ve raised well north of £600 million (US$934 million). We’re very pleased with that as it’s in the teeth of a really difficult economic environment, and all that money is discretionary spending.”

Coe also went on to say again that he did not have a problem with BP sponsoring the Games after recent criticism of its handling over the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

“BP are a great partner. They’re a very important sponsor and have helped us a lot during the bid,” he said.

And when asked if the change in leadership at BP – with chief executive Tony Hayward stepping down – would lead to a change in relations, Coe replied: “no”.

IOC Grants Caribbean Sochi 2014 Rights to SportsMax

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has awarded the exclusive broadcast rights in the Caribbean to International Media Content Ltd. (IMC), symptoms the parent company of SportsMax, impotent for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

IMC has acquired exclusive English language broadcast rights on all media platforms, excluding internet and mobile rights.

IOC President Thomas Bach said: “This agreement is another step in ensuring the universality of the Olympic Games. Having worked with IMC to broadcast both the Vancouver and London Games, we are very pleased to be able to rely on their expertise once again in Sochi.”

IOC member Richard Carrión, who led the negotiations, said: “IMC will provide live and delayed coverage on their own SportsMax channels, and work with free-to-air broadcasters across the Caribbean, ensuring daily coverage of the Sochi Games for sports fans.”

SportsMax will provide live coverage of the Games on SportsMax and SportsMax2, starting with the Opening Ceremony on 7 February straight through to the final competition day on 23 February. 

Chairman of IMC, the Hon. Pat Rousseau, OJ, stated that: “This is part of IMC’s commitment to delivering to the Caribbean the most premier sporting events in the world. The addition of Sochi 2014 to IMC’s programming makes for an incredibly exciting broadcast year, with the 2014 FIFA World Cup also coming from IMC.” He added: “In 2010, IMC broadcast the Olympic Winter Games for the first time in the region, and we are expecting a similar strong response from our subscribers for Sochi 2014.”

Napoli President Looks to Buy English Feeder Club

Serie A runners up, Napoli are set to follow in Udinese’s footsteps and buy an English feeder club.

Udinese own Spanish side Granada and Championship side Watford, and their relationship has worked well.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has now admitted he is ready to do the same and buy an English club and he wants to appoint former Napoli boss Edy Reja as boss.

“I called Reja over the last few days and told him I intend to expand my football empire,” De Laurentiis told Radio Marte.

“I want to buy three clubs, including one in England, so I asked Reja if he would be willing to be the coach and he said he’s available.

“Obviously, if when something happens he has taken on another commitment, then I’ll seek someone else.

“In my life I have always been in love with Naples and its culture. I want to bring this city around the world. Some of my friends say they’ve never seen the city and I wonder how that is even possible.”

Current ITTF President Adham Sharara Runs for Re-Election

Long-time International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) president, viagra 60mg Adham Sharara has revealed he will run for another four years.

President for the past 14 years, drugs the Canadian announced this week at a meeting of the ITTF Executive Committee in Qatar he will stand again at the AGM scheduled for May in Paris.

An electrical engineer by trade, Cairo-born Sharara represented the Canadian national team from the age of 19, becoming the table tennis technical director for the Quebec region in 1973, before being appointed national technical director of the Canadian Table Tennis Association (CTTA) and the national team coach in 1980.

Sharara is currently run unopposed with nominations closing on April 15.
