Wrestling Announce Members of their Presentation Team Ahead of Final 2020 Vote

August 30, 2013

The International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA) has announced the team that will present Wrestling’s 2020 Olympic Games case to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The IOC 125th Session in Buenos Aires begins next weekend and Wrestling hopes to be included in the 2020 Olympic Games over Baseball/Softball or Squash.

The five-member team is the same that successfully presented to the IOC in May and consists of President Nenad Lalovic (pictured), denture Canadian wrestler Carol Huynh, Vice President of the French Wrestling Federation Lise Legrand, Nigerian-Canadian wrestler Daniel Igali and ex-USA wrestler Jim Scherr.

FILA are confident they have made changes to their sport that will impress the IOC, including rule changes, weight classes to increase the opportunities available to women and the formation of an athletes’ commission.

Lalovic said: “I am pleased to announce our team for the final presentation today and I am especially grateful that this team, that has already represented the sport of wrestling so well, will be able to make the trip to Buenos Aires for this historic moment.

“Our final presentation will highlight all of the great work the FILA Bureau and Olympic wrestling fans and supporters have done over the last seven months, as well as explain to the IOC why the version of wrestling they will witness in 2020 is new, exciting and modern.”

The IOC will also elect the 2020 host city and a new President at the Session.
