West Ham to Offer Partial Refunds on Payet Shirts

January 30, 2017

Premier League football club West Ham United have taken the unusual step of offering supporters partial refunds on shirts bearing the name of former Irons player Dimitri Payet.

Frenchman Payet, who signed a five-and-half-year deal with the Hammers last year, has rejoined former club Olympique de Marseille for a fee of £25m. The midfielder had not represented West Ham in several weeks following an indication he no longer wished to play for the club.

Baroness Karen Brady, vice-chairman of West Ham United, confirmed on social media site Twitter today that fans who return their Payet-branded shirts will be able to replace it with another shirt for £25. This price represents a significant discount on shirts, which can cost up to £60 without shirt printing.

West Ham have won five of their previous seven league games, and currently sit 10th in the Premier League.
