UK Sport Appeals Rejected

February 20, 2017

UK Sport has rejected seven appeals against sporting funding cuts for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic cycle.

Following earlier reports that Wheelchair Rugby lost their appeal against their £3m funding cut, it has been confirmed that all seven sports which were totally stripped of their UK Sport funding have lost their appeals.

UK Sport has prioritised sports deemed to have the highest chance of winning medals in the Tokyo Games. Rowing, Athletics and Cycling will receive the most funding in the Tokyo 2020 cycle.

The decision to cut badminton’s funding was a controversial one, with Team GB’s male doubles team bringing home a bronze medal in Rio.
