Three Russian Athletes Can Compete as Neutrals

February 24, 2017

The doping review board of The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has cleared three Russian athletes to compete to return to competition in a neutral capacity.

Pole vaulter Anzhelika Sidorova, sprinter Kristina Sivkova and hammer thrower Aleksei Sokirskii all met the “exceptional eligibility criteria”.

Russian athletes remain banned from athletics competition, after allegations of a state-sponsored doping program were revealed last year.

The participation of the trio in competitions is still subject to approval by the organisers of individual events.

The three could compete in the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade and European Throwing Cup next month.
