The ceremony proved its global standing with major brands and innovative start-ups from around the World walking away with prizes.

Successful brands were selected by the elite of sport including former FA Vice-Chairman, David Dein, Olympic gold medallist, Marlon Devonish, international referee, Nigel Owens, as well as representatives from The British Olympic Association, Major League Gaming and Twitter.

Two new awards made their debuts at this year’s ceremony. The inaugural  ‘Sports Technology Innovator’, was awarded to Mercedes AMG Petronas Technical Chief, Paddy Lowe, for his contribution to Mercedes’ domination of the 2014 F1 season.

Also debuting was the ‘Sport England Sports Technology Design Challenge’.

Run in partnership with Sport England, the award honoured the technology which best facilitated the participation in sport of more women, young people or people with disabilities.

J.A.S. Product Design Services received this award, which includes a £10,000 bursary to develop its vision, with a concept that allows anyone with a disability to row.

Rebecca Hopkins, Director of the Sports Technology Awards, said ‘Sports technology is, arguably, the most exciting and impactful area of development in sport today – as well as the most diverse.

We saw a huge variety of businesses enter the awards and our winners run the gauntlet from start up to multinational.

Thanks to our rigerous judging process and the extensive knowledge of our judging panel, winning a Sports Technology Award is a significant achievement and the industry would be well advised to keep a close eye on the work of these companies.’

The other categories showcased an extensive array of technologies including equipment, apparel, wearable and venue technology and apps, with O2, Chelsea FC, Powerboat P1, Jaguar and Team Sky amongst the winners.
