Oakland Raiders Confirm Vegas Switch

March 28, 2017

The Oakland Raiders will be the first NFL team to play in Las Vegas, after the league approved their relocation to the city.

The switch was approved by 31 of the 32 NFL club owners at the league’s annual general meeting in Phoenix.

The Raiders will play at the Oakland Coliseum in 2017, 2018 and possibly 2019, as their new $1.9bn stadium is not expected to be ready until 2020.

Miami Dolphin’s Steven Ross was the only individual to oppose the move, stating ” “We, as owners and as a league, owe it to the fans to do everything we can to stay in the communities that have supported us until all options have been exhausted.”

The Raiders have been based in Oakland for the past 22 years.
