Nestlé Nespresso S.A. has announced that Nespresso will be the official coffee of the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco.

The partnership with the race organisers, sale the America’s Cup Event Authority (ACEA), means the company’s coffee capsules and machines will be used to supply Nespresso Grand Cru coffees for guests, partners and fans at the competitions.

Patrice Bula, Chairman of Nespresso said:“We are proud to be supporting such a prestigious and exciting event.

“Like the teams competing with cutting-edge technology in this ultimate sailing challenge, we strive for excellence. This partnership gives us the perfect opportunity to showcase Nespresso on a global stage.”

Stephen Barclay, CEO of the America’s Cup Event Authority, added: “We are pleased and proud to welcome Nespresso as the official coffee of the 34th America’s Cup and look forward to being able to provide spectators with ‘the ultimate cup’ when they come to the America’s Cup Park in San Francisco.”

Nespresso recently opened its first boutique on the west coast of the United States, in San Francisco.

“Our new San Francisco boutique will help meet growing demand for Nespresso among coffee connoisseurs,” said Frederic Levy, President of Nespresso USA.

He added: “And our close association with the America’s Cup will give us a unique opportunity to share the Nespresso experience even more widely.”

The new partnership will begin with the America’s Cup World Series in Naples, Italy in April, before the tournament switches to San Francisco.
