July 22, 2015

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has revealed the 2016 Global Games in London will feature the Toronto Raptors and the Orlando Magic.

The match will take place at London’s O2 Arena on 14 January 2016 in what will be the NBA’s sixth regular season in the English capital.

The Toronto Raptors were involved in the first NBA London game in 2011, which also marked the NBA’s first regular-season games in Europe.

The Orlando Magic first visited London for a pair of pre-season games in 1993, with four-time NBA Champion and 15-time NBA All-Star Shaquille O’Neal part of the team.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said: “We look forward to returning to London next season with a regular-season game between the Orlando Magic and the Toronto Raptors.

“This underscores our commitment to growing basketball in the region and to bringing more regular-season basketball to our fans in the UK.”

NBA EMEA Senior Vice President and Managing Director Benjamin Morel said: “The city’s sixth regular-season game will be another exciting, impactful event for all of our fans in the UK and across Europe and will help us continue to grow the sport of basketball across the region.”
