Michel Platini Re-Elected as UEFA President For Another Four Years

March 24, 2015

Michel Platini has been re-elected as the president of UEFA after standing unopposed.

The decision to re-elect the 59-year-old Frenchman was announced by UEFA at their 39th congress in Vienna on Tuesday.

Platini, who has been the president of European football’s governing body since 2007, will serve another four-year term.

This re-election also means that Platini retains his FIFA Vice-Presidency for another four years.

“This means more to me than you can possibly imagine,” Platini told the UEFA Congress in Vienna.

“I know I can count on you, and you know that you can count on me.

“This allows me to continue for another four years. I do want to say that we love FIFA deeply, and it’s precisely because we love and respect FIFA that we want it to be perfect.

“We are only demanding about the people and institutions we care about.”
