Match Attax announce bale as 2011-12 ambassador
Official Premier League trading card game Match Attax the has signed Tottenham Hotspur and Wales International footballer, Gareth Bale as an ambassador for the 2011-12 season.
The card game is played by over 1.2  million kids each season and Bale was chosen following a poll of over 250 children, as the Premier League star most of them look up to. The poll ranked Bale as most skillful player, in as well as the player the children most aspire to be like.
Bale will star in the company’s advertising campaign for the new season of cards, which launched last week.
Sports brand manager at Topps Match Attax David Smythsaid: ‘It is important that our ambassador is someone that our target 8-11 age group of children aspire to be like, and out of all the young Barclay’s Premier League stars, Gareth Bale came top by a long way. Clearly, his commitment to the game, as well as his footballing ability, really resonates with our young audience, so we are delighted he’s supporting us this season’.
Bale said: ‘Match Attax is a great way for boys and girls to get involved in football, particularly in developing the tactical side of the game.  Having played it myself, it really makes you think about the game and which players you field to win a match. I am really excited about being this season’s ambassador and look forward to meeting some Match Attax fans in the coming months’.
