Madrid 2020 Launch Businesses for Madrid Forum

Madrid 2020 has launched a new forum Empresas por Madrid – Businesses for Madrid, abortion to advise the city council on how to increase its international profile throughout the Olympic Games.

The forum is a joint public/private initiative that aims to develop strategic projects for the benefit of the city and the people who live in Madrid.

Ten firms and organisations supporting the Madrid 2020 bid have founded the forum, including Accenture S.L, Camara de Comercio e Industria de Madrid (CEIM), J&A Garrigues S.L:P, Gomez Acebo & Pombo Abogados S.L.P, Grupo Villar Mir (OHL), IFEMA (Feria de Madrid), La Caixa, J. C. Decaux, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Telefónica.

Mayor of Madrid, Ana Botella said: “In what is becoming an increasingly globalised marketplace, the Spanish capital needs a business sector that can compete with other cities around the world.

“We will identify partnership programmes to improve services and the city’s infrastructures.”

Alejandro Blanco, the President of the Madrid 2020 bid and the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) added: “The business community has the enthusiasm to match its investment. Though you are under no obligation, you are demonstrating your commitment to the city and belief in bring the Games to Spain in 2020.”

In exchange for their services, the companies forming part of the forum will be given opportunities to enhance their advertising and communication profile.

As well as using public spaces for promotional actions linked to the city, they will be invited to official events and will be given access to facilities in the city for hosting corporate events.
