France-based Sport Universal Process (SUP) has finalised a 100% takeover of performance analysis service Prozone Sports from Sky Blue Sports and Leisure.
SUP, which owns Amisco, the leading soccer player tracking technology provicer, stated that the deal would create a “global industry leader in sports data and performance analytics”. Prozone and Amisco will pool resources to enhance their services and new media applications, but will retain their separate clients.
Prozone, under managing director Barry McNeill, will continue to provide services to top European soccer clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona, while Amisco will still serve the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. Prozone and Amisco will operate from offices in the UK, Continental Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, North America, South America and Asia.
McNeill said: “We have identified some key areas of development, including how the combined data that Amisco and Prozone have gathered over the past decade can better be utilised by clients.”
He added: “In particular we believe the huge increase in performance information now available to our clients can have a positive impact upon the player recruitment process.”
Thomas Schmider, president of Amisco, said: “This significant strategic move is a further step to creating a true leader in the expanding market of sports statistics and performance analytics, with a global reach and strong development capacities.”
