The former Sussex and England wicketkeeper-batsman Jim Parks was elected President of Sussex County Cricket Club AGM last night.

Having been put forward for the position last month, Parks takes over from Bryan Besdon, who was elected as a vice-president together with John Pengelly and former players Mushtag Ahmed, Alan Oakham and Ian Thomson.

Addressing the AGM, Sussex chairman Jim May said: “We approach the new season with confidence under our new captain Ed Joyce. The team has retained the Emirates Airline t20 trophy during the pre-season tour of the UAE and we are well placed to compete for success in all three formats.”

“The County is looking forward to a full programme in 2013 including the prestigious visit of the Australians to The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground in July.”
