Governor Mark Dayton has given his seal of approval for Minnesota Vikings to build a new stadium by signing the bill allowing the building to go ahead. However, the Minneapolis City Council will still need to approve the project. Both supporters and protesters were at the bill signing event. According to KSTP Reporter Tom Hauser, supporters sang "Skol Vikings," while protesters yelled "Shame on you Governor Dayton." Dayton has been one of the biggest cheerleaders for the new $975 million project, which won final legislative approval Thursday after years of failed attempts. The Minneapolis City Council has 30 days to act on the plan, and their next meeting is scheduled for May 25. |
