How does a lockout help European Basketball?

As many know the NBA has already started canceling pre-season games and NBA Commissioner David Stern stating yesterday that the entire season could be scrapped if the two sides don't have made substantial progress by this weekend.  It is obvious how a work stoppage in the NBA can hurt the league, but since many of the NBA players have either started looking at or already signed contracts with European clubs, it could definitely provide a massive boost for all of the leagues in Europe (and to a lesser extent in China).  Today we read that Kobe Bryant is close to signing a $3M USD contract with Virtus Bologna for 40 days, and other stars have already signed with teams in Spain, Turkey, etc.  Other than the obvious of increased attendance and revenue opportunities because of these players being part of their roster, would the NBA not playing have long term positive effects on these leagues?

I've read comments from an agent this morning who claims that players would be able to earn twice as much by playing in China than they would by playing in Europe.

Another article stated European clubs generally cover tax, accounting fees and agent fees, meaning that contracts at European clubs would be attractive options.

It seems that clubs outside of the US can afford to attract players from the NBA, but you have to wonder if paying a player $3 Million for 40 days, or 10 games, is really worth it.

In my opinion, because of NBA lockout, Europe Clubs want to increase interest in basketball, to take much time in media and increase sales revenue of merchandises. The percentage of income in general from supporters, is absolutely different from NBA League. As a result Euro Basket is directly financed by sponsorship. If this lockout will be longer although not expected, Euro Clubs cannot afford these expenses. For short term period, NBA lockout is adding value to Euro Basket also the NBA organization.
