What is the biggest challenge for Dave Richardson?

Now that Dave Richardson has been appointed CEO of the ICC, what are the greatest challenges that he faces?

Is the biggest challenge for Richardson and the ICC to alleviate concerns about match fixing? What other problems is he likely to encounter?

Thanks, Peter. Some interesting comments there.

With the IPL being such a high profile league, I agree it's only natural that the spot-fixing scandal would be a concern for the ICC as it strives to protect the integrity of the sport.

I found particularly interesting that a (year old) proposal by Interpol to establish an anti corruption and match-fixing is being reviewed by the BCCI.

Interpol is currently working with FIFA to try to prevent match-fixing in soccer, but the two organisations only reached an agreement to do so a year ago so it's too early to judge how effective the project has been and, arguably, it remains unclear how effective Interpol can be in this field.

Issues like this sting operation should be dealt with by an international body to establish a clear and consistent stance regarding match-fixing, whether that be the ICC alone or working in conjunction with Interpol.

Before this new story broke, and my sources in India (as they say) are claiming that this is a big story and has the BCCI firmly on the back foot at the moment, one would have to point to the question,' what the hell has happened or will happen with the Woolf Report?'

Will DR be picking up where Haroon left off, will it go the way of the Morgan report and why did Haroon commission this to be published just before his vacating the CEO post?

However I would contend that this breaking story about the IPL will be top of the agenda for the following reason(s).

The IPL will hold, with some obvious logic, that it is domestic tournament and all within the administrative confines of the BCCI.

But hold on a minute... the IPL also contends that it has revolutionisesd world cricket, both administratively and economically, it has been a pain in the backside to the ICC regarding its FTP scheduling, has asked domestic Boards to alter their structures to accommodate an annual window and made quite a number of international players happy and not so happy.

With top international players and umpires involved in the annual event, a story breaking as per the below links has international repercussions and should be addressed by the sports governing body.
