Ice Cream Brand Get Naming-Rights to Crewe Alexandra Stand

September 13, 2012

English League One team, order Crewe Alexandra has agreed a new sponsorship deal with Whitby Morrison.

One side of the Alexandra Stadium will now be known as the Whitby Morrison Ice Cream Van Stand after the two companies agreed a naming-rights deal.

Alison Bowler, herbal business operations manager for the Railwaymen, said: “We’ve worked closely with our friends from Whitby Morrison over many years now and we are delighted that they have extended this partnership with the sponsoring of the away stand here at Gresty Road.

“It is a significant sponsorship for the next three seasons and we are pleased that such a successful, unique and local company wants to be involved.”

Whitby Morrison and Crewe Alexandra share a long-standing relationship dating back more than 20 years but this sponsorship is their biggest deal.

Ed Whitby, of Whitby Morrison, said: “Within our industry we are recognised as the world’s leading manufacturer of ice cream vans which is a cause for celebration in itself.

“Many visitors to the town associate Crewe with luxury cars and railways but with this fantastic new sponsorship venture, I’m certain many more will be leaving the town wiser in the knowledge of another famous British icon produced here – ice cream vans.

“We manufacture almost 200 vehicles on an annual basis, exporting them all over the world. Recent destinations include the US, Libya, Brunei and Kyrgyzstan.

“From personal experience I know football supporters can be tough critics, especially when it comes to their own team, and will no doubt have a laugh about the name of this stand.

“But that’s what it’s all about. The Ice Cream Van Stand will remain etched in people’s minds.”
