Overview:
UK Athletics (UKA), the National governing body for the premier Olympic and Paralympic sport of athletics has a vacancy for a Head of Performance Support Services to support the successful implementation of the World Class Plan.
The job is:
- To direct, lead and manage the Sports Science and Medical team in support of performance plans based on the what it takes to win model (WITTW) and to a prioritised performance system;
- Ensure that performance support services achieve maximum impact and are fully aligned to all activity across the World Class Programme through helping to “define and align” WITTW and playing a lead role in the performance planning process;
- Lead the development of a research and innovation programme of applied research activity through which the performance support team delivers added value to coaches and athletes.
The candidate will have:
- A successful track record of leading/managing medical/sports science teams in providing a proactive support service in a high performance environment;
- Wide experience of the scientific methods of researching and developing monitoring and evaluation protocols in HP sport and their practical applications to training and competition;
- Experience of dealing with national high performance programmes within national governing bodies of sport;
- Excellent presentation, communication and influencing skills that can motivate behavioural change to have a positive impact on performance;
- A post-graduate level of qualification within Sport Science, Medicine, or a related field.
