FIFA Extend Sanctions for Lebanese Match-Fixers

FIFA have extended worldwide disciplinary sanctions on 23 players and one official following match-fixing investigations conducted in Lebanon.

The Lebanese Football Association originally handed one-year bans to 20 of the players, pharm while the remaining players were hit with a two-year, three-year and lifetime ban respectively.

The official received a lifetime ban from all football related activities as well as a lifetime stadium ban.

FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has now extended the sanctions to have worldwide effect in accordance with article 78 paragraph 1(c) and article 136ff of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

An investigation was originally conducted by the Lebanese FA-appointed Investigation Committee to look into actions of betting and corruption during national team matches and AFC Cup games.
