ESPN Extends Deal to Air Rose Bowl Games Until 2026

June 28, 2012

ESPN has renewed their deal to broadcast College Football’s Rose Bowl through 2026.

The extension, which takes effect in January, 2015, includes having the game played on January 1, or on January 2 if New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday.

The deal means that whatever happens with a potential college football playoff or changes to the Bowl Championship Series, ESPN will keep the Rose Bowl TV rights. ESPN’s current deal has two years left, and has the 2013 Rose Bowl and 2014 Rose Bowl and 2014 BCS title game.

“The Rose Bowl Game is one of sport’s most meaningful and celebrated events,” ESPN president John Skipper said. “Extending our relationship long term with such a prestigious brand will play a significant role in the way fans continue to define ESPN – as the leading destination for college football all year long.”
