Clipper Race Sails into London with Virtual Reality

August 1, 2016

The Clipper Race, asthma which concluded this weekend with a colourful parade of the fleet celebrating the twelve teams on the River Thames in London, allergy is now giving visitors to St Katharine Docks by Tower Bridge an opportunity to experience the spectacular event through Virtual Reality.

The 2015-16 Clipper Race ended on Friday night after a 40,000 nautical mile circumnavigation of the globe. LMAX Exchange, skippered by Frenchman Olivier Cardin, was confirmed as winner of the tenth edition of the event, which took 11 months to sail around the world.

The Race Village at St Katherine Docks will remain open all week with opportunities to tour a Clipper 70 yacht and enjoy VR360 immersive experience for a taste of life as a crew member crossing the oceans.  While eleven of the yachts leave London today for the Clipper Race home port of Gosport, the Unicef yacht will stay for the week.

The Clipper Race, a partner of iSportconnect, is an endurance test like no other. The organisers supply a fleet of twelve identical racing yachts, each with a fully qualified skipper to safely guide the crew. With no previous sailing experience necessary, all the competitors can sail around the world if they choose to stay the whole course. Or they can select individual legs to sail.

The ports for the 2015-16 Race were Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, four locations in Australia (Albany, Sydney, Hobart, Airlie Beach), Da Nang in Vietnam, Qindao in China, Seattle, Panama City, New York, Derry-Londonderry, Den Helder in The Netherlands and London.

iSportconnect members have a unique opportunity to enjoy  the Clipper Race experience during the iSportconnect Regatta on September 16 in Southampton. You can learn more about this exclusive all-day event at www.iscregatta.com.

The deadline for signing is August 26.
