Clipper Race Announce Garmin as New Team Sponsor

Global GPS technology company Garmin has been named as a Team Sponsor for the Clipper 13-14 Round the World Yacht Race.

Team Garmin will be led by Australian skipper Damian Parnham and will represent the manufacturer of marine electronics and satellite navigation equipment.

Garmin has also been announced as the Official Marine Electronics Partner of the Clipper Race, cheap which is the world’s longest ocean race.

Jon Cassat, vice president of communications, Garmin said: “Being the Official Supplier of Marine Electronics for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, we are proud to further our partnership by becoming an official Team Sponsor for the 2013-14 edition.

“The Clipper Race is a renowned event that we feel is the perfect stage to showcase the reliability, accessibility and integration of our marine line and further our global presence within the marine market.”

Chairman and Founder of the Clipper Race Sir Robin Knox-Johnston added: “Modern oceanic racing depends on accurate position fixing, and Garmin’s reputation in the field means the Clipper Race crews will benefit from their presence amongst the fleet. We particularly welcome the Garmin yacht into the race.”
