Big East Conference Signs 10-Year Renewal with Madison Square Garden

October 18, 2012

The Big East Conference have announced a 10-year extension has been reached for the conference’s men’s basketball tournament to remain at Madison Square Garden (MSG).

MSG confirmed the extension to continue hosting the tournament. The current deal between MSG and the Big East ran through 2016. MSG has been home to the tournament since 1983, making it the longest running conference tournament held at the same site in college basketball.

The Big East and the Garden will have some new competition in March as the Barclays Center in Brooklyn will host the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

Since moving to the Garden in 1983, more than 3.3 million fans have attended the tournament, including the last seven, which have been advance sellouts.

Louisville won the tournament last season. This season’s tournament will be held March 12-16.
