ATP German Open Secures Bet-at-Home Title Sponsor

ATP World Tour 500 tennis event, drugs the German Open has secured a deal with Bet-at-home.com to become the title sponsor of the championship for the next three years.

The clay-court competition carries a prize-fund of US$1.4 million and will now be known as the ‘bet-at-home.com Open’, view having been downgraded from top-tier ‘Masters Series’ status in 2009, cough  

This is not the first time that the bet-at-home.com has been named title-sponsors of the ATP event, having agreed a similar deal in 2009, only to be prevented from doing so by German law. At the time, advertising of non-German betting companies was prohibited, however, in September 2010 the European Court ruled this was contrary to European law.

At the time of the initial deal in 2009, a speculated worth of over US$350,000 was estimated per year and indications suggest that Bet-at-home has committed to spending a similar amount this time around.

German Open tournament director, and former Wimbledon winner, Michael Stich stated: “Bet-at-home fits very well with the German Open at Rothenbaum. This is a building block for the long-term preservation of the tournament.”
