Andy Murray Becomes Latest Glasgow 2018 Bid Champion

Olympic gold medallist Andy Murray has joined up with the Glasgow 2018 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) bid as a bid champion and has stressed the importance of the Games to young people.

Murray, find who was born in Glasgow, try said a YOG in Glasgow would help young people from around the world realise their dreams and ambitions.

The current British men’s number one and World number two, cialis who won gold in the men’s singles at London 2012 said: “The Youth Olympic Games are all about encouraging kids to be champions and to work hard to achieve their goals.

“Things are pretty hard for young people right now and it is vital their interests are at the heart of everything people who have influence do.

“I think Scotland would embrace a Youth Olympics in a special way to help kids achieve their true potential whatever their dreams are.”

Murray went on to admit he missed the Olympics and he believed an ‘amazing way to continue’ the success of London 2012 was to bring the YOG to Glasgow.

He joins a growing list of Glasgow 2018 supporters including Sir Chris Hoy, Michael Jamieson,  Katherine Grainger CBE, Ricky Burns and Jade Jones.

Glasgow is bidding for the Games along with Buenos Aires in Argentina and Medellin in Colombia.

The three cities will find out if they will be hosting the YOG in 2018 on July 4 when the International Olympic Committee (IOC) vote in Lausanne, Switzerland.
